Another Pro-Palestinian Disruption at University of Washington

“Why are you allowing this? They want our people dead. They want us killed, how you are allowing this?

On September 12, the University of Washington Regents were holding a meeting that was loudly disrupted by pro-Palestinian activists. After 6 of them were allowed to speak and give their usual demands for divestments, a like number of Jewish students were given permission to speak about their concerns about campus anti-Semitism. Sadly, the pro-Hamas mobs prevailed jeering and shouting them down until campus police responded and escorted the Jewish students, the university president, and the regents out of the room to safety.

 The above-linked article in the Washington Examiner dated September 14 has a video showing a tearful Jewish female student begging a university official to protect them.

They should have escorted the pro-Hamas disruptors out of the room and to a jail cell. This is yet another example of how the pro-Hamas forces have taken over our universities. It seems nobody is in charge and nobody is willing to step up and protect the rights of Jewish students if it means having to confront and discipline groups like Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). Oh, sure, a handful of universities have temporarily suspended SJP in the wake of the recent encampments and pitched battles with police. Yet, these suspensions are usually short-lived and SJP is restored to active status in short order complete with school funding. It is a disgrace.

If campus police find it necessary to escort innocent people away from a situation for their own safety, it seems obvious to me that the offenders should be arrested and prosecuted. If nothing else, charge them with disorderly conduct or disruption. Prosecute them and expel them. If UW is unwilling to take strong action, their funding should disappear, as well as their students. UW is already under investigation by the Dept. of Education Office of Civil Rights for this very problem. It appears the investigators have yet another incident for their files.
