Oberlin Suspends Anti-Semitic Professor

Joy Karega, the darling of the anti-Semitic, anti-Israel left, has been suspended by Oberlin University as it investigates her history of anti-Jewish conspiracy theories.

There is a free speech argument involved here since Karega's comments came on social media. For example, could UC Irvine discipline me for the articles I write here on this site that are critical of Islam? I suppose so though I have never blamed Islam for the Holocaust ( I have written that the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini played a role. That's not a conspiracy theory dreamt up by me; it is a historical fact.) It is one thing to criticize an ideology and specific individuals who carry that ideology into violence-as opposed to damning all adherents to a religion-which I do not do. There is also something to be said about Karega's qualifications as a scholar given her anti-Jewish conspiracy theories.

Joy Karega is hardly the only university professor who has exhibited Jew hatred. There are many, mostly pro-Palestinian activists. They can be found in many universities across the nation, generally in the humanities and Middle East studies departments as well as gender studies, ethnic studies and other useless and/or politicized academic endeavors. What is needed is an academic reformation.
