Sobibor Re-Visited

Hat tip Israel Forum

Israel Forum has a fascinating article about an archaeological dig at the site of the Sobibor death camp in Poland. This was one of 6 Nazi death camps in Poland built to exterminate the Jews during World War 2 (Auschwitz-Birkenau was the most infamous.) As the Nazis fled the advancing Red Army, they obliterated every last trace of the camp. Today, an Israeli archaeologist is attempting to show how the camp was constructed via an archaeological dig.

A timely article about a timely project. Whatever can remind the world about what happened is important-especially at a time when certain European countries are even afraid to teach Holocaust history for fear of "offending" certain segments of society and at a time when anti-Semitism is surging once again.

He who forgets the past are condemn to repeat it. In Europe the past is being repeated, but this time European Jews have a place to run to.

BTW, on 48 people survived Sobibor. A sobering thought to remember.
