The Battle in Liege-Video

This weekend we reported on a pitched battle in Liege on April 16 between Chechen and Kurdish gangs, which resulted in one death. The conservative Belgian party, Vlaams Belang, has posted a video of the incident on their Twitter page.

Scottsdale Professor Gets Settlement from College

Nicolas Damask, the Scottsdale Community College professor who was publicly condemned on his campus for criticizing Islam, has settled with the college and is receiving a settlement of $155,000. He had also been the subject of a lawsuit by CAIR, which was dismissed.

Swedish Politicians Shed Crocodile Tears for Female Victims

In Sweden, 5 women have been murdered in the past three weeks.  That has led Prime Minister  Stefan Löfven to issue a statement on Facebook lamenting the fact that there is a real problem of violence against women by men in his country. Löfven: "This fills me with anger"

Prime Minister Stefan Löfven is also reacting to the murders by close relations in recent weeks. He now promises that the government will invite organizations and authorities to see what measures are needed to prevent this in the future. 

"This fills me with anger, and one cannot feel anything but the deepest contempt for men who humiliate, beat and murder women," he writes.

Five women have been killed by men in the past 3 weeks. This has awakened debate over how society is actually handling this.

"Where is the outcry from society? From my political colleagues? Where are the commissions, the tough ones?" wrote Annie Lööf (C) on Facebook Sunday.

"A Societal Problem"

On Sunday evening, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven reacted in a post on Facebook. The Minister for  Equality, Märta Stenevi (MP), earlier in the day, called for a party conference on the violence. Now Stefan  Löfven is also promising that the government will invite several organizations and authorities to see what measures can be taken to counteract it.

"Men who expose women to these heinous crimes should be punished, but men's violence on women should not be reduced to individual cases. It is a societal problem which must be fought with all of society's collective power," writes Löfven 

"Men must change"

According to Stefan Löfven, male violence against women and gang crime are the government's two main priorities in criminal policy.  He highlights the new sex crime legislation and increased possibilities of ankle monitors and (restraining orders) as examples of what the government has already done. But he says at the same time that more must be done.

"For men's violence against women to end, it is men who must change," he writes.

He continues: We need to talk with men about what real manhood is, that it is not beating or harassing."

But there is much more to this story. First of all, we must ask just who is responsible for a disproportionate share -if not most- of this violence against women. Here is an article from Sweden that we reported on just a few weeks ago.

It should be noted that nowhere in Löfven's Facebook post did he say one word about the involvement of immigrants, particularly Muslim immigrants, in this problem. According to the prime minister, it is just men. The fact is that as prime minister, he has presided over an insane immigration-refugee policy that has turned Swedish towns into gang warfare zones and made the country the rape capital of Europe.

And as for Annie Lööf, she is a fine one to be complaining. She is a liberal who advocates for even more immigration and acceptance of refugees into Sweden.

So Sweden will now appoint a blue-ribbon commission to "study the problem" and see how they can convince men to act like civilized human beings. If they really want to solve the problem and make their country safe for women again, they need to change their immigration policies. That is not to say stop all immigration, but they need to look elsewhere in the world to find immigrants who will assimilate and contribute to their society. They also need to toughen up their sentencing. Convicted rapists in Sweden are getting off with ridiculously light sentences, and in most cases, even avoiding deportation.

The sad fact is that these Swedish government leaders have blood on their hands.

Last Night in Stockholm (Suburb) .....One Dead

There was yet another murder in Stockholm last night. In a no-go zone of the city, a man was shot to death by assailant(s) unknown. This was no doubt immigrant gang activity due to the location and the identity of the victim. Though his name has not been given, Samnytt reports that he was a close relative of a man charged in the so-called Vårby network. Breitbart gives you a hint of what this group is all about.

Murder in Stockholm suburb- Young man executed with several shots

April 18 !7:30

A 20-year-old man was shot to death just before three am in the northwestern Stockholm suburb of Kista next to the "vulnerable area" of Rinkeby, Testa, and Husby. A number of people are said to have witnessed the shooting.

At 2:43 am, Sunday morning, police were notified. A man in his 20s had been hit with several shots fired in the residential area of Kista. The shooting occurred in front of several witnesses.

Police do not rule out that this could be a case of gang criminality. According to Expressen, the victim is a close relative of a person who is accused in the big Vårby case.

"They engaged in some form of confrontation with the (victim), shot him outside, then left the area, " says Ola Österling, press spokesperson with the Stockholm police.

During the night, police interviewed witnesses and are also going through a number of film recordings of the murder since it occurred in an area with surveillance cameras.

Police have no suspect

"There is extensive material to go through," states Österling.

The area is cordoned off today, and the police are searching the area with dogs and criminal technicians analyzing any findings in the hunt for clues. Nobody has been arrested for the murder, and the police report they have no suspects. The man's relatives have been notified, the police report.

The close relative of the victim is one of 30 people from the criminal Vårby network charged with a large number of serious crimes, including murder, kidnapping, bombings, as well as serious weapons and narcotics offenses.

Sekou Odinga (aka Nathaniel Burns): Scheduled Panelist at SFSU

This week, we have been reporting on a scheduled virtual panel discussion at San Francisco State University hosted by SFSU professor Rabab Abdulhadi. She has assembled a real all-star team of far-left radicals to bash America and the Jewish state of Israel, the latter of which is Abdulhadi's pet issue. (She is Palestinian.)

Another one of the featured panelists is a character who goes by the name, Sekou Odinga. His birth name was Nathaniel Burns. I am cross-posting a couple of links as to this man's background. Odinga, aka Burns, was involved in a deadly Brinks armored car robbery in New York State in 1981. Even then, he was dedicated to the cause of the far-away Palestinians.

Burns/Odinga was released from prison in 2014. No word on whether he was yelling, "Long live Palestine" as he walked out of the prison. Apparently, he is now on the lecture/panel tour for groups like AMED at SFSU.

Incidentally, one of his co-defendants, David Gilbert, who is still serving a life sentence for his part in the Brinks robbery, is the father, along with Kathy Boudin, of Chesa Boudin, who just happens to be the radical leftist District Attorney of San Francisco.

Belgium: Kurds and Chechens Battle it out in Liege: One Dead

In many European cities, immigrant youth gangs are fighting pitched battles against each other in the streets. We earlier reported on wars ongoing between Chechen and Moroccan immigrants in France. Yesterday in Liege, Belgium, there was a pitched battle between Chechens and Kurds. One Chechen was shot to death.

28 arrests after deadly confrontation between rival gangs in Liege

Two rival youth gangs fought out a conflict Friday afternoon in the streets of the Liege suburb of Bressoux. During the fight, there was one dead and two injured. The Liege prosecutor's office has begun an investigation.

In the Liege suburb of Bressoux, a severe fight broke out Friday afternoon. The events took place around 1700 hours Friday evening on the Avenue de Nancy.

A young man of Chechen origin was attacked by a gang of masked men with baseball bats when he was driving on the street in his car. "The young man tried to drive away, but in doing so, he drove into some parked cars. He was then shot at," says Damien Leboutte of the Liege prosecutor's office. The victim later succumbed to his wounds in the hospital.

Two others were injured during their arrest. In total, the police, who arrived at the scene en masse, arrested 28 people.

The prosecutor's office of Liege opened an investigation after the events. The arrested were interrogated, and Friday evening, an investigating judge, a police doctor, and a ballistics expert also came to the scene. According to the Liege prosecutor's office, the latter expert was called because there were heavy weapons used. There are pictures that have appeared in which a Kalashnikov is seen.

During the confrontation, a TEC bus was hit with a stone. Several lines have been diverted or canceled this weekend.

According to different French-language media, the fight was the result of a conflict between youths with Kurdish and Chechen background(s) who live in Liege or Verviers. The information was not confirmed by the prosecutor's office. The young man who died is reportedly a Chechen.

According to the Wallonian newspaper, La Meuse, it was about a settling of scores. The two gangs met each other not by chance. The confrontation was set up via social media. They are reportedly very young gang members.

The police are wary of retaliation. On social media, there is now a call for revenge circulating. Saturday afternoon, one of the gangs reportedly wants to go to Verviers. "The Verviers police are aware of the call and have taken the necessary measures", the RTBF reports.

SFSU Pro-Palestinian Event: Laura Whitehorn

 Here is some additional information on San Francisco State University professor Rabab Abdulhadi's scheduled panel discussion, of which we have been reporting. In addition to Leila Khaled,a  documented skyjacker and member of the terrorist group, Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, another radical figure who was lined up to participate is Laura Whitehorn. This charming lady was a member of the Weather Underground and the May 19 Communist Organization, and in 1983, participated in the bombing of the US Capitol. For that, she served 14 years in prison.

So what does the Weather Underground have to do with the Palestinian cause? In the words of the leftist radicals themselves, it's called "intersectionality". 

Quite a cast, isn't it? Shame on the people sponsoring this obscene event.

SFSU Event With Leila Khaled Etc. Who Are the Sponsors?

Here is more on the scheduled Pali-panel at San Francisco State University, just the latest dog and pony show put on by SFSU professor, Rabab Abdulhadi in support of her fellow Palestinians and dedicated to the destruction of the Jewish state of Israel. In addition to AMED, her own academic storefront operation, the event is sponsored by a couple of University of California entities. 

First, there is something called the University of California Humanities Research Institute (UCHRI). 

"Thinking differently together"

 Still confused? Here is a little bit more about UCHRI.

"An incubator for experimentation, UCHRI strives to (re)animate ideas that contribute to the comprehension of the worlds we inhabit..."

Digging deeper into this incubator, I note that the director of this outfit is none other than anti-Israel activist and UCI professor Theo Goldberg. The only other two names I recognized are Robin Kelley and Saree Makdisi, both professors from UCLA and anti-Israel activists. I have heard all three of these characters speak, and my description of them is spot on.

The other organization is something called the Council of UC Faculty Associations (CUCFA).

"The Council of University of California Faculty Associations is a coordinating and service agency for the several individual Faculty Associations — associations of UC Senate faculty — on the separate campuses of the University of California, and it represents them to all state- or university-wide agencies on issues of common concern."

So apparently, every University of California campus has a chapter. Just out of morbid curiosity, I decided to check out the UC Irvine chapter since I used to teach part-time there. They call themselves the Irvine Faculty Association.

"The Irvine Faculty Association is a voluntary faculty association affiliated with the Council of UC Faculty Associations (CUCFA)."

Checking into their published "Executive Board", I wanted to see if I found any familiar names.

 (I did. That would be my old pal, Mark LeVine, who once cursed at me in front of his own students because I called him an "anti-Israel activist". But I digress.)

And just for kicks, here is another recent endeavor by this bunch at UC Irvine.

So here is my point: Here we have two University of California-connected entities co-sponsoring a panel event at San Francisco State University (part of the California State University system, as opposed to the University of California system) featuring Leila Khaled, a documented terrorist and skyjacker, who is still active in trying to destroy the Jewish state. Not that UC and CSU entities can't get involved in co-sponsoring each other's events, but (in my humble view), the University of California deserves a nice big letter of complaint from the more rational voices in the CSU system for bringing discredit to one of the CSU system's campuses (SFSU). To go even farther, these two UC Faculty groups are co-sponsoring an event at SFSU featuring a documented terrorist, Khaled, who is an active member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a US-designated terrorist organization, and participating in a campaign (Abdulhadi's) that has long been accused of fostering a  climate of anti-Semitism on the SFSU campus. SFSU is a lost cause, but these UC Faculty groups might want to re-think what they are doing. 

To say nothing of the fact that the University of California system has (at least) two faculty associations who are agenda-driven. To be honest, I don't know if these UC Faculty groups are publicly funded, but it would make an interesting question.

At SFSU, Support for Palestinian Terror Continues

She's baaaack. Yes, that would be San Francisco State University professor Rabab Abdulhadi, the Palestinian woman who washed up on our shores and has brought shame and embarrassment to SFSU for years-as if that institution hasn't had enough of it over its history.

The last we heard of Abdulhadi was in September 2020, when she was attempting to host a Zoom conference featuring Palestinian skyjacker Leila Khaled. It was canceled, but a similar event is on for April 23, featuring Khaled and another character with a shady past named Yaqoub Odeh, among others.

"San Francisco State Associate Professor Rabab Abdulhadi is listed as the moderator for the April 23 event, which is sponsored by the school’s Arab and Muslim Ethnicities and Diasporas (AMED) Studies program."

Make no mistake. This event and so many others held by Abdulhadi are nothing more than the glorification of violence committed against Israelis and Jews by Palestinian terrorists. It may be covered by our Constitutional guarantees of free speech, but we enjoy the right to call it what it is. This is what passes for education in California. SFSU, under the leadership of President Lynn Mahoney and her predecessor, Les Wong, is a joke even by our present-day low standards. It is clear that anti-Semitism thrives at SFSU. Everyone who has had a hand in sponsoring this should be ashamed.

Los Angeles Unified Teachers Union and Their Radical Agenda: Celine Qussiny

The  United Teachers Union of Los Angeles has been in the local news a lot lately due to their fierce resistance to re-opening the schools during the Covid pandemic. Make no mistake: This union is led by radicals. 

In keeping with their philosophy and coinciding with the looming Critical Ethnic Studies teaching agenda on the horizon, the LAUTA is fully on-board with the coming indoctrination of our children. That's why they scheduled a panel presentation entitled, "Ethnic Studies in LAUSD-Keeping it authentic". You can read the flyer above. It was scheduled for April 13, 2021.

I would like to draw the reader's attention to just one of the panelists, which also drew the attention of The Israel Group, a pro-Israel organization based in Los Angeles that also monitors incidents of anti-Semitism in our schools. I am referring to Celine Qussiny, whose name is actually misspelled in the teachers union flyer.

There is much more to Ms Qussiny's bio. I am referring to her time as a student at UC Irvine, specifically in May 2017 when she led a disruption of a pro-Israel event on campus. The above link was the first time I used Qussiny's name because my general policy was to try and avoid using the names of students. The above article not only gave her name but described her as a graduate. Now that she is no longer a student and continues to be an activist, I have no further compunctions about using her name.

Of course, Qussiny's disruptive antics at UC Irvine did not deter an organization called the Arab American Civic Council from giving her an award in 2019.

Well, after all, it's not called the Arab American Civil Council, is it?

But here is my point: It is no coincidence that the Ethnic Studies program under consideration in California contains instruction about how Israel is " oppressing" the Palestinian people. Moreover, it would instruct our kids that Jews are simply to be considered in the category as "privileged whites". In other words, they are fair game. And why was it so important for UTLA to hear from Ms. Qussiny? No doubt, her presentation contained plenty of information about the Israel-Palestinian conflict that was so important for the LA teachers to hear so they can pass it on to our children. 

As a product of the LA Unified School District (Class of 1963), it pains me to say that something is terribly wrong with the education our children are receiving in Los Angeles and in California as a whole. This event is just evidence of that.

Old Joe Picks a New DEA Administrator

Old Joe has named former Attorney General of New Jersey and New York University law professor Anne Milgram to be the new administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration.

I have no idea who she, and after reading her bio, I really can't get my head around what she is all about. Her main focus seems to be centered around data analysis, which makes this choice another Old Joe head-scratcher.

She may turn out to be a great administrator, but I hope she remembers that the main job of DEA is seizing dope and putting (high-level) traffickers in jail. If data analysis will help do that, fine.

As a retired DEA agent, I am in touch with lots of other retired agents online, and the general reaction to this choice is, well, skeptical. On the surface, it appears to be another step in removing DEA agents from the street, which has been a negative trend in recent years in my view.

What Is Anti-Semitism? The Israel Angle

I am cross-posting an article from the New York-based Jewish news outlet Algemeiner by Eric Fusfield of B'nai B'rith that deals with competing versions of the definition of anti-Semitism. First of all, there is the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition, which is used by several international entities including the US State Department. Here is Mr Fusfield's article in defense of the IHRA definition. 

Because the IHRA version contains several examples of anti-Semitism that relate to Israel, enemies of the Jewish state, particularly the pro-Palestinian lobby, are opposed to it. Now two different groups have recently come up with their own versions, the Jerusalem Declaration on anti-Semitism, as well as that of the Nexus Task Force (described in a JNS article by Lea Speyer), something that was spawned at the University of Southern California. The main point of difference between these 3 definitions is when it comes to the question of Israel and its conflict with the Palestinians. 

Now we have a recent article written by Professor Neve Gordon (a pro-Palestinian Israeli) at the Queen Mary University in London and Mark LeVine, a professor of history at the University of California at Irvine (where I also taught part-time from 1998-2016). These two gentlemen make the case for the Jerusalem-Nexus versions since they "legitimize" or shield the attacks against Israel from charges of anti-Semitism.

Clearly, the intent of the two recent versions (Jerusalem-Nexus) is to chip away at the connections between attacks against the Jewish state of Israel and anti-Semitism itself. Even Israel's defenders concede that mere criticism of Israel's policies does not, in itself, constitute anti-Semitism. But when you resort to age-old tropes to claim that Jews control the banks, governments, and other worldwide institutions to make your case for the Palestinians, that is anti-Semitic. When you hold Israel to certain standards when it comes to human rights while ignoring the human rights abuses of its Arab neighbors, red flags are raised. Those are just two examples contained in the IHRA version.

I am not familiar with Professor Gordon, but I am familiar with his co-author, Mark LeVine, since he and I have both taught at UC Irvine-including the years of conflict when UCI earned a reputation as an unfriendly place for Jewish students-thanks-not to the KKK or Neo-Nazis- but thanks to the Muslim Student Union (MSU) and Students for Justice in Palestine, both of whom have sponsored numerous events over the years that have condemned Israel as a violator of Palestinian human rights. Several speakers for these groups have attacked Jews as people-aside from their opposition to Israel. I have personally witnessed it.

It is not my point here to attack LeVine though we are on opposite sides of the issue. But I would like to point out to him just one example of Jew-hatred that I personally witnessed in 2008 during the annual May week of events attacking Israel and organized by the MSU. As part of their annual exhibit, there is a so-called Apartheid Wall, representing the wall Israel has constructed to protect its citizens from Palestinian terrorist attacks. This is a caricature of former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon that I witnessed and photographed in May 2008 on that Apartheid Wall.

In fairness, I should add that I have never seen Professor LeVine at the Apartheid Wall, neither in 2008 or any other time. I have never seen him present when Oakland imam Amir Abdel Malik Ali was attacking various and sundry individuals as "Zionist JEWS!" in his numerous appearances at UCI. It is entirely possible that LeVine was and still is unaware of that image of Ariel Sharon that appeared on our campus in 2008. He may not be aware that a Washington DC imam named Mohamed al-Asi spoke at UCI in February 2001 and said, that, "you can take the Jew out of the ghetto, but you cannot take the ghetto out of the Jew". Al-Asi was not speaking before the UCI-KKK chapter (there is none, never has been). He was speaking before the MSU and attacking Israel.

I have numerous other anecdotes, too many to list here, but my point is this: These two new "definitions" of anti-Semitism, drawn up by leftist academics opposed to Israel (Jewish or not) are a false argument that would merely legitimize Jew-hatred masquerading as a human rights campaign on behalf of the "downtrodden" Palestinian people. Because in the final analysis, this entire anti-Zionist campaign (including the Boycott, Divest, and Sanction movement against Israel) is part of the ultimate goal of eliminating the Jewish state of Israel and replacing it with something called Palestine. The fact is that anti-Semitism is deeply embedded in the anti-Israel movement, and sooner or later, it comes out, whether it is the form of remarks about Jewish ghettoes, "Zionist JEWS", bullying of Jewish students, swastikas on Jewish dorm rooms, or caricatures of Jewish leaders drawn in the style of the old Nazi weekly, Der Stuermer. 

You cannot eliminate Israel from the discussion when discussing today's newest reincarnation of Jew-hatred. It is front and center. For a bunch of leftist academics who are opposed to Israel to try and invent a new definition of anti-Semitism that would legitimize the examples I have given above is just plain cynical and absurd.
