Italy: Migrants Revolt Against Police

Hat tip Gates of Vienna and Vlad Tepes. Translation by Fousesquawk.

Illegal migrants in Calabria and Puglia engaged in protests and blocked streets as they demanded immigration documents immediately. Former Interior Minister and leader of the Lega party, Matteo Salvini tweeted video of the protests.

Below is the translation of Salvini's tweet and his attached video, which we have translated and sub-titled to English.

Crazy stuff!

Illegal immigrants attack our police with the shout, " Documents immediately for all". But for the left, Italy's priority is to abolish the Security Decrees...

Street Reactions to the Jersey City Killings

The below tweet from Rabbi Dov Hikind (I don't know who he is.) is very painful to watch. It shows reactions from a few knuckleheads on the street in Jersey City after the attack occurred that killed four innocent people.

https://twitter.com/i/status/1204806510762741760

I refuse to attach the sentiments shown in the video to all black people in Jersey City or anywhere else. But it does point to a problem. That problem is that anti-semitism is also found within some segments of the black community, and it should be addressed and attacked by our leaders, especially our black leaders-not including people like Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson.

It is ironic that we have a president who has done more than any of his predecessors to defend Israel and to defend American Jews. Just this week he signed an executive order addressing anti-semitism on our campuses-an issue I have been involved with for over ten years. Yet, he is called an anti-semite, as are his voters and followers, and is even being criticized by some Jews for his actions.

To the extent that some white people engage in Jew hatred, I have always condemned them including the KKK and neo-Nazis. They are scum. People like Richard Spencer and David Duke are scum. But are we going to ignore Jew hatred when it is expressed by some blacks or some Muslims? Absolutely not.

Yesterday, I posted an article on the motives of the Jersey City killers. I received a comment from someone identifying himself-or herself- as "Donald Jay Trump". It just goes to prove the points I have made over the years.

Sad, isn't it?

The Horowitz Report

I watched very little of Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz's testimony today before the Senate Judiciary Committee and I certainly don't plan to read the 400+ pages of his report on the FBI actions during the 2016 election.

It is fair to say that both sides of the political spectrum are putting their spin on the report. The Democrats and the media stress that the investigation shows "no FBI bias" in their actions. The Republicans point out that Horowitz did state that there was "illegal surveillance" and that Horowitz outlined 17 errors made by the FBI in investigating Trump and his aides-all of those errors working to the detriment of Trump. They also point  out that Horowitz was constrained to working within the DOJ-FBI structure. The real case will be when John Durham finishes his investigation for Attorney General Bill Barr, both of whom have been critical of parts of Horowitz's report.

There are a few points that leave me mystified, so I would like to make a couple of points.

Horowitz preferred to use the term, "illegal surveillance" over spying. To me this is like substituting "extremely careless" for "grossly negligent", which James Comey and his gang did in the Hillary Clinton report. Illegal surveillance or spying, take your pick.

Probably the most controversial conclusion Horowitz came to was that the FBI showed no bias in their handling of the investigation. Good grief! Has he read the emails that Peter Strzok and Lisa Page were sending each other? Was the FBI not biased when they relied on the Steele Dossier to apply for FISA warrants against Carter Page? They knew that Steele was extremely biased against Trump.

And here is another point: I refer once again to my own experience with wiretaps (and other intercepts) during my career with DEA. Again I stress that I never applied for a FISA warrant, but in the case of ordinary wiretap applications, one of the most important requirements in applying for an extension is that the intercept is producing fruit-evidence. That in fact, the principals are using the communication device to conduct their illegal activities, and that evidence of crime is being obtained. Otherwise, how do you justify an extension?

Did the FBI have that with Carter Page? Mr Page has never been charged with a crime. What information were they able to give the FISA judge in applying for the three extensions that showed that the intercept was producing evidence? I am guessing none.

Trump's Executive Action on Campus Anti-Semitism

Hat tip Algemeiner

President Trump has taken a significant step in combating campus anti-Semitism on college campuses with his executive order this week which would deny or cut  federal funding to universities that don't take steps to combat the problem. It is drawing opposition not just from the pro-Palestinian mobs who say it will deny them their freedom of speech to promote BDS and condemn Israel. That is a line being pushed by the despicable organization called J Street, which falsely purports to be "pro-Israel, pro-peace". They are 100% pro-Palestinian.

In addition, some Jewish groups are uncomfortable by the designation of Jews as a distinct racial or ethnic group as opposed to being simply classified as a religious group.

https://www.algemeiner.com/2019/12/11/trump-to-sign-order-targeting-antisemitism-on-college-campuses/

The racial classification issue is thorny, but requires some explanation. The 1964 Civil Rights Act did not include protections for religions because Congress was relectant to get into that issue because of our tradition of freedom of religion and keeping government out of religion. Thus, when Jewish students at UC Irvine, assisted by the Zionist Organization of America and the Orange County Independent Task Force on Anti-Semitism, sought an investigation by the Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights in 2007-08, one of the reasons the investigation was unsuccessful was because Jews were classified simply as a religious group. National origin (in this case, Israel) could not be considered because none of the Jewish students complaining were Israeli ctitizens.

It is understandable that some Jews might be uncomfortable being classified as a racial or ethnic group. After all, Jews come in all colors, though some ignorant folks think they are all "privileged whites". It is also recalled that Hitler and the Nazis cared not a whit about Jews' religious beliefs and practices. To them, Jews were a racial group that they considered inferior.

In my opinion, however, given the lesson of UC Irvine in 2007-08, I think it is necessary to add-not replace- the designation of Jews as a racial or ethnic group as well as a religious group in order to ensure that they can be protected like other minorities.

Sweden: "Opinion Police" in Action

Hat tip Vlad Tepes and Gates of Vienna for sub-titling. Translation by Kronans Martell and Ullis News.

Åsa Westerberg is a Swedish woman who has spoken out about the rash of immigrant crime in Sweden as well as Islam, of which she is a critic.  Unfortunately, Sweden does not have freedom of expression as we know it in the US. If you criticize the government policy of immigration, immigrant crime, or criticize Islam, you can expect the police to come knocking on your door. As it has happened to Ms Westerberg. Below are excerpts from a recent public speech she gave describing two occasions when the police came calling. It is chilling that this could be going on in Western Europe.

* You may wonder about her use of the term, "drilling" to describe how the police got through her door. Due to the harsh weather conditions in Sweden, doors tend to be made very heavily. That means that they are harder to kick down or break through with a battering ram. Thus, police use a drill-like tool that boors through the lock in seconds.

This is Sweden today. If a person is branded as a "racist" or "right-wing radical", or "Islamophobe", they can literally lose their job and be blacklisted from future employment.

So the question must be asked: If this is what freedom of expression looks like in Sweden (and much of the rest of Western Europe) how do we call this a democracy? Here is another fun fact about Sweden. The Sweden Democrat (SD) party, which opposes mass immigration, is now the largest party in Sweden. Yet, because of the parliamentary system, which mandates that it takes four or more parties to form a majority government, you have a collection of liberal parties who band together to form a government. Since none of them will work with the SD, they effectively keep the SD out of power. It is similar to the problems in Italy, where Matteo Salvini's Lega party is the most popular in Italy, but back door deals (coalitions) by the other parties sweep them out of government.

That is not democracy.

Jersey City: Motive Was Jew/Cop Hatred

Hat tip Algemeiner

-Gateway Pundit

Yesterday's horrific attack in Jersey City, which left six people dead including a police officer, began at a cemetery and ended in a nearby Jewish grocery store. It appears the store was not just a random place where the suspects tried to escape. Instead, it appears to investigators at this point that the store was targeted. Shortly before the shooting stated, one of the dead suspects posted anti-Jewish and anti-police rants on social media. Three people inside the store were murdered before the shooting ended. The suspects have been identified as David Anderson (47) and Francine Graham (50). Anderson is reportedly a one time follower of the Black Hebrew Israelites, a radical fringe group not recognized by mainstream Judaism.

https://www.algemeiner.com/2019/12/11/one-suspect-in-jersey-city-carnage-posted-antisemitic-content-online-officials-say/

So now we have witnessed a major tragedy, sparked by hatred directed against Jews and against police, both of which are growing cancers in our society. Of course, this is not going to further the narrative of the left, who would prefer to blame Jew hatred in the US today on Trump supporters and white nationalists. Indeed, the rash of attacks against Jews in the greater New York area in recent months have been primarily from within the African-American community. It behooves community leaders to step up and address this growing scourge within their community. All too often, however, it is people like Al Sharpton who have controlled the narrative with his history of anti-Jewish statements. Meanwhile, moderate voices within the community, people who abhor this hatred directed against Jews and cops, are pushed to the sidelines.

We should hear much  more about this story in the days ahead. On second thought, maybe it will disappear quickly from the media because it doesn't fit their talking points.

Knife Attacks in Germany

Hat tip Gates of Vienna and Vlad Tepes. Translation by Miss Piggy.

Palace of Justice, Nuremberg

Like other parts of Europe, knife attacks are all the rage these days in Germany. On Sunday, 5 German cities experienced such attacks. In the below video, we see a news report by Bild (with English sub-titles by Miss Piggy) describing the incidents, particularly the one in Nuremberg, which interestingly, occurred near the historic courthouse on Fuertherstrasse where the war crimes trials were held. (It is still Nuremberg's functioning court house)

According to Gates of Vienna, there were many more such attacks over the weekend in Germany. In the Nuremberg case, a 25-year-old Iraqi man was arrested Sunday.

Perhaps this will lead to the left in Europe in calling for "sensible knife control measures". Me thinks better immigration policies would be much more effective.

Time to Re-Assess Our Relationship With the Saudis

This article first appeared in New English Review.

As I write, investigators are still trying to find all the facts surrounding Friday's shooting at Pensacola Joint Station in which a Saudi airman shot and killed three people before being killed by police. There are reports that he was on Twitter 15 minutes before the attack railing against the US and Israel. He reportedly referred to the US being an evil country because they were killing Muslims and others. If these are truly the online rants of the gunman, Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani, then it has all the earmarks of an act of Jihad. There are reports out there that 6 other Saudis are in custody for questioning and that 3 of them might have filmed the attack. As I write this, much remains to be confirmed.

We now learn that there are hundreds of foreign military members training at Pensacola and that over half of them are Saudis. Of course, nobody  needs to remind us that of the 19 hijackers of 9-11, 15 were  Saudis. Was that an accident? Hardly. Saudi Arabia is one of the world's most devoutly Islamic countries. Sharia is the basis for Saudi law, and most people in that country subscribe to the Wahhabist strain of Islam, probably the most severe form of Islam out there.

The country, is, of course, considered an ally of the US in geo-political terms. As one of the world's biggest oil producers, the West has been hostage to Saudi oil for many years. The Kingdom's royal family's biggest concern is remaining in power. That has caused it to make deals with the radical clerics and religious forces both within and outside of the country. In short, the Saudi government is duplicitous. They help fight terror on one hand while giving it support on the other.

But beyond the outrageous fact that Saudi nationals have once again come to our soil and taken American lives, it must be remembered that this country is using its massive oil wealth to propagate extremist Islamic beliefs here at home. Many mosques in the US have been financed by Saudi money. Several Middle East studies departments in our universities, mere propaganda centers for hate against the West and Israel, have been financed by Saudi Arabia.

I am not well versed in geo-politics. Those experts will tell us that in spite of its warts, Saudi Arabia is important to us as a bulwark against forces like ISIS, Iran etc. Behind the scenes the Saudis have come to some form of cooperation with Israel. That is fine. If the Saudis and Iranians come to a full scale war with Iran, it only makes sense to root for the Saudis. Yet, should President Trump send American troops to fight and die for Saudi Arabia? Not in my view. I would not oppose sending military aid to defeat the Iranians, but not one American life. To me, there is only one country in the Middle East we should stand and fight with if attacked by Iran, and that nation is Israel.

I do feel that we need to reassess our relationship with Saudi Arabia. First, we need to be self sufficient when it comes to oil. In that respect, we are on track-at least until the next Democrat president shuts it down in the name of the environment. Secondly, as an American citizen since 9-11, I find it outrageous that we continue to put American lives at risk by allowing more and more Saudis to enter our country to train or to study in our universities. For 18 years (1998-2016) I taught English at the University of California at Irvine, and a large percentage of our students were Saudis. I am unaware of any of them belonging to terrorist organizations or carrying out attacks. A large number of them intended to continue in US universities and study engineering. Yet, in the wake of 9-11, it always seemed like an unacceptable risk, but I was not in a  position to stop it.

President Trump expects the Saudis to fully cooperate in the investigation. But if that just means that some arrests will be made, followed by show trials and a few people being put under the sword, that is not sufficient. The Saudis have been playing both sides for far too long now.  Can they change? I don't think so. Supremacist Islam is too strong a force in that country.

As far as I am concerned, if Trump were to send every last Saudi military member training here back home, that would be fine with me. At some point, these Muslim majority nations need to understand that we (and the rest of the West) are sick and tired of them sending their jihadists and killers to our countries and inflicting harm on our citizens.

An Attack in Florida

Hat tip Jihad Watch

I thought we had learned our lesson on 9-11 that bringing Saudis to learn to fly planes in the US was a bad idea. Today, a Saudi military pilot being trained in the US opened fire at Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida, killing three before being shot and killed himself. He is identified as Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani.

https://www.jihadwatch.org/2019/12/florida-naval-air-station-jihad-murderer-was-saudi-aviation-student

The authorities can hem and haw all they want about motive and possibility of terrorism. They can say he was mentally ill, the reason of choice for the Europeans when these things happen in their countries. I am going to put two and two together and bet the farm that this was jihad.

The lesson once again is clear: If we keep bringing these people to our countries, innocent people will die. It is unfortunate that innocent Muslims have to bear this burden, but this is a matter of public safety.

Macron Can Joke About Trump All He Wants-While France Burns

Paris fire
Paris (Reuters)

The liberal news media on both sides of the Atlantic is laughing and making a big deal about the fact that some NATO leaders like Pierre Trudeau of Canada and Emmanuel Macron of France were caught on camera joking about President Trump at a NATO reception at London's Buckingham Palace Tuesday.

Well, Macron can laugh all he wants, but while he is laughing at Trump, back in France, his country is burning as riots have broken out all over the place in protest against Macron's pension reforms. Vlad Tepes has plenty of videos from Paris and Nantes, which were, apparently, the scenes of the worst violence.
