Sweden: "Opinion Police" in Action

Hat tip Vlad Tepes and Gates of Vienna for sub-titling. Translation by Kronans Martell and Ullis News.

Åsa Westerberg is a Swedish woman who has spoken out about the rash of immigrant crime in Sweden as well as Islam, of which she is a critic.  Unfortunately, Sweden does not have freedom of expression as we know it in the US. If you criticize the government policy of immigration, immigrant crime, or criticize Islam, you can expect the police to come knocking on your door. As it has happened to Ms Westerberg. Below are excerpts from a recent public speech she gave describing two occasions when the police came calling. It is chilling that this could be going on in Western Europe.

* You may wonder about her use of the term, "drilling" to describe how the police got through her door. Due to the harsh weather conditions in Sweden, doors tend to be made very heavily. That means that they are harder to kick down or break through with a battering ram. Thus, police use a drill-like tool that boors through the lock in seconds.

This is Sweden today. If a person is branded as a "racist" or "right-wing radical", or "Islamophobe", they can literally lose their job and be blacklisted from future employment.

So the question must be asked: If this is what freedom of expression looks like in Sweden (and much of the rest of Western Europe) how do we call this a democracy? Here is another fun fact about Sweden. The Sweden Democrat (SD) party, which opposes mass immigration, is now the largest party in Sweden. Yet, because of the parliamentary system, which mandates that it takes four or more parties to form a majority government, you have a collection of liberal parties who band together to form a government. Since none of them will work with the SD, they effectively keep the SD out of power. It is similar to the problems in Italy, where Matteo Salvini's Lega party is the most popular in Italy, but back door deals (coalitions) by the other parties sweep them out of government.

That is not democracy.
