Controversial muckraker-journalist-videographer James O'Keefe is back in the news as he travels to Tulane University and meets with former US Attorney James Letten, who had some involvement with O'Keefe's prosecution in Louisiana a few years back. Letten is now an asst dean at Tulane. The whole confrontation was caught on videotape. It shows Mr Letten calling O'Keefe a lot of names, some rather bizarre. It also has a clip of O'Keefe's visit to the Bergen Record, a newspaper in northern New Jersey. Campus Reform has the video. It is highly entertaining

Not having all the facts about the past between Letten and O'Keefe, I will not take sides here. I just enjoyed the video, that's all. Mr O'Keefe certainly has a way to piss people off.

"While many Americans honored fallen U.S. servicemen, Imam Zaid Shakir’s message to 32,000 Muslims at the ICNA convention was that Sharia Law is superior to the U.S. Constitution because it isn’t based on equal citizenship for Muslims and non-Muslims. He actually said, “If Islam is the basis, the kafir [non-believer] won’t be equal with the Muslim. The Christian or the Jew will be a dhimmi [second-class citizen]. They won’t be equal with the Muslim.”

It should be noted that Shakir is a founder of Zaytuna College at UC Berkeley along with professor Hatem Bazian. In addition, during last year's MPAC conference, which was held at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena, one of the young speakers told the audience how he had relocated to the Berkeley area so he could be mentored by Shakir.

What Obama is Getting Us Into in Syria

Everyone needs to see this video. An Al Qaeda rebel check point in Syria. Three truck drivers are stopped and questioned as to their religious affiliation. Specifically, the terrorists want to know if they are Sunni-like the rebels- or Alawite like the ruling Assad family. Apparently, the killers conclude they are Alawite. Accordingly, they are executed in cold blood. Jihad Watch has the graphic video complete with the "melodic" strains of Arab music.

These are the people that our government is supporting. It is likely that within days we will be sending American troops into this hell hole to fight with one group of evil-doers against another group of evil doers. We will also likely see tens of thousands of Syrians brought into this country as refugees, many of whom will probably be just like these executioners-because they were "on our side".

We didn't learn our lesson in Libya.

It is enough to make you sick.

Muslim Brotherhood Supporters Use 4-Finger Salute in Gaza and Ottawa

A  protest was held in yesterday Ottawa, Canada by supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Note the use of the 4-finger salute that was used. The same salute was used the day before by Muslim Brotherhood supporters in Gaza. The Gaza group was parading through town with weapons as well. Vlad Tepes has video of both events.

In addition, last night in Santa Monica, California a group of counter-jihad activists had a table (lawfully) set up on the Third Street Promenade during the evening hours. For some strange reason, the Promenade was flooded with Muslims last night, several of whom engaged our friends. Four older men who came up to the table made it a point to show their yellow caps with the 4-finger hand sewn on as a sign of support for the Muslim Brotherhood.

Academics Against Academic Freedom

Pro Israel Bay Bloggers has published a list of almost 80 university professors who have signed on to a boycott of a conference held by Israel's Hebrew University. I guess because these nitwits are so adamantly opposed to Israel, they want to boycott any message that runs counter to their own opinions.

I am familiar with some of these names, especially the ones who teach in the University of California system. Sondra Hale, a retired professor from UCLA, has been written about on these pages. I have also heard Robin Kelley (UCLA) and Gabriel Piterberg (UCLA) speak at UC Irvine. Then there is math professor David Klein at CSUN. He's the guy who uses the school's web server to attack Israel. They are all  jokes in my view, but I would never try to silence or boycott their right to speak. It may be their tactic, but it's not mine. Whenever one side tries to shut down the other, that's a pretty good clue as to who the good guys are and vice versa.

I might note that Kelley was sitting at the "dais" at UCI this year when UCI professor Sohail Daulatzai, sitting next to him, upbraided me for attacking him, "a fellow teacher" (see video in the Kelley link). "Duly noted", he added ominously. I can only wonder why Daulatzai's name isn't on this list.

Human Rights Watch Report on the Attacks on Churches in Egypt

"In Dalga, a village in southern Minya governorate, three witnesses told Human Rights Watch that mobs attacked churches and Coptic homes as soon as the news of the Cairo sit-in dispersal reached residents of the town. Gamil Nagih, 21, said that at 7:45 a.m. he heard the imam of a nearby mosque announce over the mosque loudspeakers, “Go help your brothers in Rab’a.” At 9 a.m. he said, he saw thousands of men gathering outside Saints Mary and Ibram church. The men broke the through doors while shouting “Islamic, Islamic,” he said. The attackers then looted the church and set it on fire. The attackers also torched 20 Coptic homes and looted and burned Coptic-owned shops in the area, he said."

The below report comes from Human Rights Watch and concerns the attacks on Coptic Christian churches on-going in Egypt. It also accuses security personnel of inaction.

Obama Paints Himself Into a Corner With Syria

The community organizer who became president is now trapped in the middle of big time geopolitics with countries like Russia and Iran as he tries to figure out what to do next with Syria. Last year he told the world that Syria would cross a red line if it used chemical weapons against its people. Now that it appears Syria has done just that, Obama is waffling all over the place.

If it weren't so tragic, it would be laughable. It reminds you of the kid who is trying to make a show of standing up to the bully and saying, "I dare ya. I double dare ya. I triple dare ya", as the bully calls each bluff. So Obama is consulting with David Cameron and meeting with his team consisting of Joe Biden, John Kerry, James Clapper, Chuck Hagel and John Brennan et al. Meanwhile, he is moving naval carriers closer to Syria and waiting for the experts at the UN to send a team into Syria to look for evidence that by now may have degraded anyway.

Of course, Obama could have spared himself and our country all this embarrassment by not making such bravado statements in the first place. After all, is the US expected to invade every country that commits atrocities against its own people? What if New Guinea uses chemical weapons against innocent villagers next month? What are we supposed to do about it?

Had Obama started assisting rebels  in the early stages of this war, he could have found good groups to help. Now it's too late. There are no good guys anymore just bad guys fighting bad guys. So here we are getting involved, and no matter who wins, all we will gain is more Arab enmity, just as we did in Libya.

Obama has painted himself into a corner with Syria, and now it is becoming about how he can save face (his). To make things worse, he is surrounded by incompetents. Just this week, his newly-appointed UN Ambassador, Samantha Power, who had been screaming her head off about Syria, decided to take a vacation in Ireland 19 days after taking over her post and missing a UN Security Council meeting on what to do about Syria's use of chemical weapons.

Maybe Obama should take George Galloway's word for it. This week, the famed British comedian opined that it was Al Qaeda who used the weapons and that they got them from Israel. If that boffo theory were true it would be the perfect alibi for Obama to walk away from the whole thing.

Yeah. Israel. That's the ticket!

Winterfest is Coming to Berlin

It looks like Berlin is going to drop the word, "Christmas" from its vocabulary. The city is considering whether to rename the coming holiday season, "Winterfest" so as to make its diverse population feel at home.
