Netherlands Bringing Back One IS-Wife and Three Children From Syrian Detention Camp (Video)

Over the weekend, we reported on the fact that a Dutch judge had ordered authorities to make every effort to retrieve children of Dutch ISIS-travelers from Kurdish detention camps. Accordingly, Dutch authorities brought back three children who had traveled from the Netherlands to Syria with their parents. All told a Dutch mother and her two small children were brought back as well as another 12-year-old girl with her mother's permission. 

We have also added English sub-titles to two Dutch-language videos.

The second video  (from NOS) shows the Dutch delegation at the camp during the handover. Note that for some reason, the video doesn't start rolling until about the 18-second mark. In addition, since the Dutch official is speaking in English, we have only translated the words of the Kurdish official (in Arabic) from the accompanying Dutch subtitles.

One of the lingering problems that Western nations face in the wake of the Syrian civil war and the war against the ISIS caliphate in Syria and Iraq, is that there are many ISIS prisoners and their wives and children being held prisoner in Kurdish detention camps in Northern Syria.  The Kurds obviously want the nations involved to come and take their citizens back to their own countries. Many Western nations are reluctant to do so for obvious reasons. There isn't a lot of sympathy for the women, who chose to follow their men and subject their children to the dangers of war. But what about the innocent children?

While it is easy to say bring the children back but we don't want the adult parents, that also creates a dilemma. The Kurds do not want to release children to travel alone without their parents.

While Sweden allows just about anyone to return and resume their lives in privacy, job training, new IDs, and all (No, there is no ticker-tape parade), the Netherlands has been more reluctant. However, a Dutch judge has ruled that the Dutch government must do all it can to bring the children back. He imposed no requirement to bring back any adults. So now it has just been announced that a Dutch delegation has traveled to Northern Syria to bring back a woman identified as Ilham B. along with her two children and a 12-year-old girl who will accompany them with the permission of her mother, who remains a prisoner.

IS-traveler picked up from Syria for adjudication in the Netherlands

The Parliament is divided over the bringing back of IS-women and children.

The Kurdish authorities in Syria today have turned over four prisoners to representatives of the Netherlands. It concerns Ilham B., from Gouda, who had connections with the terror group ISIS. Together with her two children, she is being brought back to the Netherlands, her attorney confirms.

According to caretaker minister Ferd Grapperhaus (Justice), it was an "exceptional opportunity" to bring B. and her children to the Netherlands. Upon arrival B. will be taken into custody, Grapperhaus writes in a letter to the Second Chamber. A 12-year-old girl will also travel with her. In that latter case, the Kurdish director, Abdulkarim Omar, speaks of a "humanitarian question".

It was decided to bring the woman back for adjudication in the Netherlands to prevent impunity. A Dutch court had issued an ultimatum to the authorities last year. If more were not done to ensure that the woman could attend her trial, then the case against her would be terminated. The children who accompanied her would be turned over to child protection (service). 

Not fighters

The turnover took place in the town of Kamishli. According to a concerned functionary, in each case, it does not involve people who have been active as fighters for the terror organization, reports the press agency AFP (Agence France Presse).

During the Syrian civil war, foreigners, among whom were also Dutch citizens, traveled to Syria in order to join the Islamic State. These were called Syria-travelers or IS-travelers.

Since the fight against the terror group, the Kurds have taken many foreign IS-fighters prisoner and called on foreign governments to repatriate their citizens, but many countries have little desire.

In November 2019, the judge decided in a (summary proceeding) that the Dutch state must make an effort to bring back children of IS-women from the camps in Syria. The judge spoke of a "serious and acute emergency situation."

The judge imposed no obligation to bring back IS-women themselves.

The summary proceeding was brought by 23 female Syria-travelers. The women wanted that they, together with their 56 children, should be picked up from the camps.

The Cabinet earlier declared that the children not be picked up because it was too unsafe there.

Orphans earlier picked up

It is not the first time that a Dutch delegation has picked up children in Syria. In 2019, the Netherlands picked up two orphans, at that time, 4 and 2 years old. They were children from killed IS-parents. The repatriation was then coordinated with France, who picked up 12 children.

Burkina Faso Suffers Massacre by Islamic Terrorists

It may be passing the attention of much of the world, but Africa is become the principal battleground involving Islamic terrorism. We knew about Somalia with Al Shabaab and Nigeria with Boko Haram, but from Mali to the Congo to Mozambique to Niger to Burkina Faso, bands of Al Qaeda and ISIS-affiliated jihadists are attacking villages, killing the inhabitants, including women and children on the spot, often by beheading, or taking them as slaves.

The most recent news in this area has just come out of the West African nation of Burkina Faso, which is a small country bordering on, among others, the aforementioned Mali and Niger. Formerly called the Upper Volta, it is a former French colony whose official language is French. (There are many local languages commonly spoken by the majority of the country's citizens.) According to the 2006 census, about 60% of the people are Muslim (mostly Sunni), and about 23% are Christian.

Today, the government of Burkina Faso has announced the deaths of 132 villagers. For English-language readers, you can read about the most recent massacre here from Reuters.

Full disclosure: I do not consider myself an expert on Africa, and the only country on the continent I have ever visited is Egypt. Given the events in the above-mentioned countries, in recent weeks, I have been checking the local online news sources in these countries, most of which appear in the former colonial languages of French and Portuguese (Mozambique). In a few cases, we have translated the local news articles. 

This should not be considered extensive research because there are many news outlets in these countries, and by no means have I exhaustively checked all. I have, however, come away with an impression (perhaps, erroneously), but it seems striking to me that the news outlets for these countries are not extensively reporting these massacres. Rather than immediately finding these stories splashed on the front page, one has to search, often in vain. This seems to be especially the case in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. 

Of course, I realize that in many, if not most of these countries, the press is controlled by the government. Maybe these governments don't want the populace to know just how bad things are in parts of the country they cannot effectively control. That is speculation on my part.

 At any rate, returning to Burkina Faso, in checking about a dozen of the French-language newspapers online, this is what I found from one news site. It is from Sidwaya and is in French. Translation by Fousesquawk.

Sebba: About 100 civilians killed at Solhan, the president of Faso decrees a national period of mourning of 72 hours

The village of Solhan was plunged into mourning on the night of 4-5 June, 2021 by armed individuals. This attack, perpetrated against civilian populations, took a heavy toll. A government communique refers to a provisional toll, established by a detachment patrol of Sebba, of about 100 civilians who were killed without distinction to age. Several homes and the market were also set on fire.

In the face of this tragedy by obscure forces, states the communique, a national day of mourning of 72 hours, beginning today 5 June at 00:00  to Monday, 7 June at 23:59 is decreed. The communique, signed by the spokesman of the government, Ousseni Tamboura, points out that defense forces and security (forces) are (working) to neutralize the terrorists and restore peace to the people.

And that the government bows before the memory of the victims and wishes a prompt recovery to the wounded. It promises that these crimes will not go unpunished.

Netherlands: Thierry Baudet Calls Out Rockefeller Foundation Pandemic Report From 2010

This week, Thierry Baudet, leader of the conservative Dutch party, Forum for Democracy, took to the floor of the Dutch Parliament and referred to a study done by the Rockefeller Foundation in 2010 envisioning a scenario by which a worldwide pandemic would lead to international leaders creating tight controls on the populace that would last and intensify even after the pandemic passed. As the RAIR article points out, media "fact-checkers" tried to debunk this story last year. It seems the point of disagreement is not whether such a report was written, but what the intent of the report was and how to interpret it in light of what has happened the past couple of years.

Academic Support for Palestinians

Elizabeth Redden has written a thought-provoking article in Inside Higher Education that addresses the preponderance of academic support for the Palestinian cause in US universities.

Aside from the very pertinent questions, the writer asks, what strikes me (though it is hardly news) is why is there so much Palestinian support among departments like gender studies and Middle East Studies, two departments (among many in the Humanities field) that are so oriented to the left?

Is it not noteworthy that all these academic leftists who infest our universities are completely onboard against the Jewish state of Israel while ignoring such obvious facts as the fact that it was Hamas in Gaza who started the latest round of fighting-as it invariably the case? Why is it that these same leftists completely ignore, time after time, the terrorism and anti-Jewish hate of Hamas? Why do they ignore the vicious displays of anti-Semitism that have broken out in the US and Europe? One might also ask why these American leftists are so supportive of the Palestinians, who have no love for America and actually celebrated on 9-11? Could it be that these same academics have contempt for America as well?

Spain's VOX Leader Visits Hungary

This week, Santiago Abascal, the leader of the VOX party in Spain, visited Hungary at the invitation of Hungarian leader Viktor Orban. VOX and the Hungarian government share a common opposition to the idea of massive migration into Europe. Hungary doesn't allow it, while the ruling Spanish government seems unable or unwilling to stop the invasion of its country by illegal migrants coming from North and sub-Saharan Africa.

A movement of Nigerian Americans is protesting the jihad enslavement of blacks in Africa — we should support them

Nigerian Americans who are working to free black slaves taken in jihad raids in Nigeria are asking for help in this cause from all people of good will, specifically from Christian and Jewish communities. Boko Haram and Fulani tribesmen are waging a jihad on the mostly Christian Nigerian villages in Nigeria, capturing women and children as slaves, forcing them to “marry” jihad soldiers and to convert to Islam. Since 2014, Fulani militants — a small, extremist portion of the Fulani people — have accelerated the conflict with Nigerian Christians at an alarming rate. Fulani militants are reportedly responsible for 7,400 deaths since 2015, targeting and attacking whole communities, schools, and households. Faith and solidarity: Give Muslim Brotherhood a clear and obvious place

Over time, Social Democrats (SD) have developed two foreign policy lines: Partly that which is presented in the media and Parliament, but also partly that which is carried out in practice. A foreign-and aid policy that is essentially influenced by the Muslim Brotherhood, whose most faithful ally is the Social Democrat side organization, Faith and Solidarity.

Ever since the mid-1990s, the Muslim Brotherhood has established itself in the Social Democrat party. As Lidarsidorna was earlier able to report, the Brotherhood has its principal seat through the Islamic Association in Sweden and particularly through Stockholm's mosque, whose current imam, Mahmoud Khalfi, was nominated for political positions of trust after the 1994 Stockholm municipal election. 

Khalfi has himself affirmed the mosque's direction as belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood in several of his own statements, which have been noticed by researcher Sameh Egyptson. IFiS' (Islamic Association in Sweden) earlier spokesperson, Mahmoud Aldebe, has also confirmed the ideological direction through his own description of the Brotherhood in Sweden.

The clearest example of how this seemingly warm relationship between Social Democrats and the Brotherhood has grown is the trip that was made in 2011.

In March 2011, on the initiative of the Brotherhood movement, a delegation made up of Viola Furubjelke, head of the delegation, Mariam Osman Sheriafy- SD Board of Directors, Alaa Idris, SSU (Swedish SD Youth Association), Chakrib Benmaklouf, president of European Federation of Islamic Organizations (FIOE), and Ulf Carmesund, international secretary of Brotherhood Movement, traveled to Egypt to gain information on the situation in the country after the riots at Tahrir Square. Among other things, meetings were held with representatives of the Muslim Brotherhood who later won the subsequent election through their political party.

Viola Furubjelke is ex-member of Parliament (1985-2002) and chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee. From 2005-2008, Furubjelke was general secretary for Olof Palme's International Center.

FIOE, of which Benmaklouf was chairman at the time, is the Brotherhood's European umbrella organization and was founded by, among others, IFiS. 

Mariam Osman Sheriafy later became rector for Kista Public High School, which is part of the Brotherhood's cluster of network organizations. Alaa Idris became organizational secretary with responsibility for member registry for  Carin Jämtin during the latter's time as party secretary.

During the same period, Peter Weiderud was chairman for the Brotherhood Movement, which changed its name to Social Democrats for Faith and Solidarity. Faith and Solidarity developed into today's organization to no longer being a Christian side organization of Social Democrats, but to an inter-religious organization where all religions are welcome. This led to the organization taking on a values-apologetic profile.

Among other things, Weiderup said that Social Democrats would accept that Muslim party members mainly held homophobic values in a debate article in SVT (Swedish State Television) Opinion. His reasoning was that these members had not come as far in their political and democratic development as Swedish Social Democrats.

The Brotherhood's influence is clear. Far lesser known is that Faith and Solidarity, in connection with Egypt's current president's seizure of power, urged the Egyptian military regime to normalize relations with the Muslim Brotherhood.

A Brotherhood that, during the election and its short time in power, persecuted other religious minorities, explicitly expressed that they wanted to destroy the state of Israel, as well as introduced wide-ranging, repressive religious laws.

In a press release signed by Peter Weiderud, in his capacity as chairman from August 19, 2013, after Brotherhood President Morsi was overthrown, Faith and Solidarity wrote:

"Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi's proposal to dissolve the Muslim Brotherhood provokes opponents and diminishes the room for negotiations."

"The interim government must create a real dialogue wherein the Muslim Brotherhood gets a clear and obvious place."

After the Swedish election in 2014, Peter Weiderud was appointed to be director at the Swedish Insitute in Alexandria. Weiderud himself broke off this assignment in 2018 and the government closed the institute down stating that the Swedish Property Agency raised the rent for the property in Alexandria, which the authorities administrator for the Swedish Church. (This is) an explanation that the government put forward to the opposition in the Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee.

Today, Weiderud is employed as chancellory counselor with the Unit for Conflict Management in the Foreign Affairs Department, with special orientation on inter-religious dialogue. Weiderud was permanently appointed in 2019 to the Foreign Affairs Department by then-Foreign Minister, Margot Wallström.

Belgian Aid Funds to Palestinians May Be Diverted to Terrorists

Belgium investigates channeling of development money to Palestinian terrorists

Minister for Development Cooperation, Meryame Kitir confirmed in the Parliament that an investigation is underway into Belgian developmental aid that possibly is channeled to the financing of terrorist activities of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

She answered a question from N-VA Parliament Member Kathleen Depoorter: "This matter is very serious, and cannot be taken lightly. I am happy that the matter is being investigated, but also expect quick answers and appropriate steps by the minister,"

A report accuses seven Palestinian organizations of channeling developmental money from Western European donors, intended for the local people, to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a terrorist organization according to the European Union.

Among these suspected organizations are also found partners of Belgian developmental cooperation such as Health Work Committees (HWC), but also the organization, Defense for Children International Palestine (DCIP), which Belgium wanted to give speaking time within the United Nations Security Council.

3.76 million euro support improperly used

Minister Kitir confirms that the concerned organizations in the past 5 years, through their Belgian partners, received up to 3.70 million euros of which 660,000 euros through Viva Salud, 1.8 million euros through Oxfam, and 1.3 million euros through Broederlijk Delen (Brotherly Sharing). According to the Israelis, our support is improperly used. They reportedly submitted a report to our government, after which, the minister opened an investigation.

Payments suspended in Netherlands, Belgian government remains silent

Parliament Member Kathleen DePoorter points out that these reports in the Netherlands caused the necessary commotion in the government, and the payments were suspended. "I note that our government, while the allegations are serious, remains much quieter. I have asked the minister, nonetheless, to look into these reports and that she bring her own investigation into the misuse to the Parliament. Everyone is innocent until the opposite is proven and these Palestinian organizations deserve a fair chance, but we expect appropriate measures if the facts are proven."

Belgium: 6 Months in Jail for "Stop Islamization" Banner

If you think Belgians enjoy the same freedom of speech as we do in America, this story might interest you. Four members of a Flemish separatist organization in Belgium have been sentenced to 6 months in jail for displaying banner that read, "Stop Islamization" with caricatures of women in burkas and face coverings. A Belgian court has ruled that this was an incitement to hate.

Four members of radical-right group, Voorpost, sentenced for inciting hate and violence because of banner, "Stop Islamization"

The criminal court of Mechelen has sentenced four members of the radical-right organization, Voorpost, for incitement toward hate and violence during a protest in May of last year. On a banner under the words, "Stop Islamization", were pictured some women in burkas or niqabs, and this combination, according to the court, went too far. Various Parliament members from Vlaams Belang (party) have protested against the verdict in Mechelen.

It was on Saturday 30 May, 2020 on the Saturday Market in Mechelen that the radical-right organization, Voorpost, held a protest against what they say is Islamization. There some members also held a banner with the words, "Stop Islamization". Under the words was a row of women wearing niqabs and a second row of women with burkas.

According to the criminal court in Mechelen, that banner went too far. "By having such signs and banners, the accused have the aim of instilling fear and creating hate in society by convincing onlookers of the idea that possibly in the future, Islam will dominate Flanders, " the verdict reads.

They sketch an imagined danger whereby each woman, as a result of this so-called Islamization, will be forced to wear a burka or niqab, or that every woman, as a result, will wear a burka or niqab. Such ideas attempt to feed on the fear of the hate against Muslim society or to awaken it, so that (others) will be incited to engage in similar hateful and fear-mongering behaviors, said the court.

The four members of Voorpost are all sentenced to 6 months imprisonment. For three of them. this was postponed, for one the sentence was in effect. Their lawyer, Luc Deceuninck, will now look into whether they will appeal. But that seems probable. "This was just freedom of speech, a political statement, nothing else," says Deceuninck in an initial reaction to the judgment.

"If someone says stop Islamization, they are not saying stop Islam. They are saying: Stop the pervasive influence of certain Islamic customs in our society. That is what they mean. The court actually did not answer our arguments," said the displeased lawyer.

Vlaams Belang campaigns for free speech

Several parliamentarians from Vlaams Belang have protested in Mechelen against the verdict of the criminal court of Mechelen. On the Grand Market they unfurled banners with the same message, filled in with posters with the message, "Stop censorship". 

The criminal conviction of the four Voorpost-activists is far beyond a miscarriage of justice. This is an attack on free speech, democracy, and the possibility of carrying on opposition. The resistance against Islamization is not an incitement to hate or violence. That is just freedom of speech. That is protecting what is dear to us, our identity," said Vlaams Belang chairman, Tom Van Grieken in "The Journal".

Sweden: Immigrant Gangs Set up Roadblocks Outside Gothenburg

This past week we reported on a shootout between rival immigrant gangs outside Gothenburg, Sweden. Now it appears that one of the gangs, the  Hjällbo Network, has actually set up their own roadblocks and checking people and cars going in and out of the no-go zones. The police are aware, but it appears as of now, they have not taken action. This has to be a new low for the Swedish police. Updated information indicates that members of this Hjällbo Network are traveling to Gothenburg from outside of Sweden. More violence is feared.

Information: Criminals Set up Roadblocks in Hjällbo. Check ID. June 1, 2021 17:34

According to information to Samnytt, criminal clans have once again set up roadblocks where they, among other things, check passersby ID documents. The information is confirmed by a police source.

Last August, Samnytt reported about roadblocks in Gothenburg's no-go zones where incoming and outgoing vehicles to and from, among other places, Hjällbo and Hammarkullen, were stopped and searched. Erik Nord, police chief of  Greater Gothenburg, commented that this is "completely unacceptable".

According to information to Samnytt on Tuesday, it is time again when roadblocks are set up and people are being stopped in the middle of the day. People who walk between Hammarkullen and Hjällbo are also stopped. Behind this are people reportedly tied to the  Hjällbo Network, and this is done even though the area is full of police.

Those who are stopped are told to show ID documents and give their home address. Clan members at the roadblocks move about the area on scooters, dressed in protective vests and outfitted with walkie-talkies according to the information.

Samnytt has been in contact with a police source who confirms the information. The source reports that it is people from Hjällbo Network who set up the roadblocks and carry out personal checks in the area. For this reason, the police are sending resources to Hjällbo.
