Identitäre, the German version of Generation Identitaire has staged a street demonstration in Hamburg, which looks like one of those die-in. In this case, the "dead" are the victims of terrorism, and the group is lobbying for a safe country through stricter borders.
This group is on Germany's black list, which as Gates of Vienna explains, is a list of those deemed "enemies of the constitution.

To be deemed an enemy of the constitution is how the post-war Bundesrepublik treated communism the Baader-Meinhof gang, and neo-Nazis in order to defend and protect their new democracy. It just may be that it is now being abused.
Europe may be democratic, but it does not have the protections we enjoy in the US.
Come to think of it, we have some enemies of the constitution here in the US.

UC Irvine to Open Marijuana Research Center
UC Irvine is announcing that they will open a marijuana research center. Former state senator Joe Dunn, now a UCI law professor, made the announcement. Also interviewed is UCI anatomy and neurobiology professor Daniele Piomelli. There a couple of points I find interesting.
First of all, Dr Piomelli mentions the relationship of marijuana to the environment to criminal justice to culture as areas of study. Does that also include health and the effects of marijuana on the body and the brain? I guess since the medical department is involved, Dr Piomelli possibly forgot to list that as well. I would hope it does.
Secondly, if Erwin Chemerinsky and his liberal-activist law department is involved, I find it hard to believe that they will not advocate in some way, like, for example, legalization of marijuana at some point. This op-ed by Chemerinsky gives a hint as to his leanings on the issue.
The effects of marijuana on the body and brain have been studied for years, most prominently by the University of Mississippi at Oxford. The more we have learned about marijuana, the more we know that it does have harmful health effects.
I can't wait for the first statement to come pout of this center advocating that marijuana be legalized, decriminalized or what have you.

Juan Cole's Latest Howler
University of Michigan Professor John Richard Cole aka Juan Cole, has written another piece that has earned him yet another Campus Watch "Howler of the Month" award. (At this rate, he may catch up to UCI Professor Mark Levine aka Mark LeVine.) Cole has written an article for The Nation, in which he claims that carbon dioxide is more deadly than the sarin gas that Syrian dictator Bashar Assad is using to kill his people with.
In reply (as if one were necessary), Campus Watch has posted this article by E. Calvin Beisner in Patriot Post. He points out that the "deadly" carbon dioxide is contained in what we exhale, something the learned professor overlooked.

Someone should write to Juano and warn him that he may be giving Assad new ideas. If CO2 is so much more deadly than sarin, why not fly over Syrian cities and have your pilots breathe down at the people below?
Can you say, "Hiroshima"?
Or maybe California and other states, vexed over their inability to lethally inject convicted murderers because of "cruel and inhuman punishment" claims and expiring chemicals, could simply pay the executioner to breathe on the condemned prisoners. Quick and painless (unless the executioner has bad breath).

Stunning Accusation Against Loretta Lynch
Here is a very important revelation that came out of James Comey's testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee this week. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) asked Comey about a New York Times article that reported that a Russian-hacked email contained the statement that then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch would do whatever it took to ensure that Hillary Clinton would not be indicted in the email investigation. Grassley asked Comey to confirm the report and identify the sender and recipient of the email in question. Comey replied that he would have to discuss that in a closed session. He didn't deny it. He didn't say the report was false or that the FBI had no knowledge. He said he couldn't discuss it in an open forum before Congress.
That tells me the report is accurate. No wonder Comey said that after the Lynch-Bill Clinton meeting at the Phoenix airport that he wasn't confident about the ability of the Justice Department to deal with this case. If this is true then Loretta Lynch was just as corrupt as her predecessor, Eric Holder.
I am very skeptical that this matter will result in any indictments, but this cries out for further investigation. At the very least, let the public know the extent of the skulduggery that went on during the campaign.
Gerald Ford pardoned Richard Nixon for his actions in the Watergate scandal, but he couldn't protect him from public opinion or the verdict of history. At the very least, the public deserves to know the depth of the Clinton corruption and how it corrupted everyone around her.

Italian TV Reporter and Cameraman Attacked by Migrants at Rome's Central Train Station

In the below link, we have an on air TV report from a female journalist and her cameraman reporting from the Rome train station, where migrants from Africa are sleeping on the sidewalk outside. As she is reporting, some of them attack her and her cameraman. There are tense moments as the studio hearing her screams has no idea if she is safe or not. Fortunately, a taxi driver came to the rescue. The cameraman was beaten to some extent. I provided the translation of the news article as well as the sub-titling (with the assistance of Gates of Vienna and Vlad Tepes) of the video.

The other is Wong himself. He is solidly in support of GUPS. He has ignored entreaties and letters begging him to improve the environment at SFSU for Jewish students. He is totally indifferent in my view. He needs to be fired.

Who Interferes in Other People's Elections?

We hear a lot of talk these days about how Vladimir Putin allegedly interfered in our election on behalf of Donald Trump. Well, isn't that what our former president, Barack Obama, is now doing in France, which goes to the polls Sunday to elect their next president?
Keep in mind this is the same president who sent his operatives to Israel to help opposition campaign against Benjamin Netanyahu. This is nothing new for Obama.
Cinco de Mayo: Cultural Appropriation Day

Today is Cinco de Mayo aka Drinko de Mayo. Today is the day in the US that Mexicans and Americans alike flock to bars and parties to get sloshed on Corona and Tequila. It is a day when all the disagreements about immigration and borders are put aside as we celebrate the victory of the Mexicans over the French. Of course, in Mexico, there is no holiday and nobody really does anything because they know that a military victory over the French is nothing to celebrate. We know that too but it is an excuse to drink and party just like we celebrate St Patrick's Day. That's when we put on green pants and pretend we are all a bunch of drunken Irishmen. Or Oktoberfest when we all put on green pants, go to places in SoCal like Old World Village (Huntington Beach), listen to a German oompah band, eat bratwurst, and drink imported, pasteurized German beer that tastes more like American beer by the liter.
But I digress.
Think of it. The French, God bless them, have been defeated in wars by Mexico, Vietnam, and Algeria among others. I know what you wise guys out there are going to say: The US was also defeated in the Vietnam war. Not really. Our military won every major battle fought. We lost diplomatically and politically. The French left Vietnam (Indo China) after their disastrous defeat at Dien Bien Phu. We may have had better soldiers, but we didn't have better politicians (or college students).
But I digress again. Here is my thesis:
Before you UC Santa Cruz Community Studies and History of Consciousness majors (and all of you real university students as well) start gearing up for the big 5 tonight, remember you will be engaging in that big collegiate no-no.
Cultural appropriation.
That's right. You are stealing the culture of another people. They will be offended. Actually, only on a college campus. In the real world, we will come together, link arms, and toast each other. But not in the rarefied air of academia where all the smart people live. Of course, nobody cares if it's the Irish or Germans. That's because they are "privileged whites", and Western culture doesn't matter anymore anyway. Only the cultures of peoples of color matter. They cannot be touched- even affectionately. All we can do is salute them, but we cannot participate in them. That would be cultural appropriation. So all you UC Santa Cruz students who are occupying the president's office as I write, stay where you are for at least one more day.
And the rest of you can forget about rushing out to the store for Corona and Jose Cuervo. Unless you are of Mexican heritage, that is forbidden- verboten-haram. Of course, since my wife is Mexican, and I no longer work on a university campus, I feel free to indulge tonight.
Except my wife says no way is she going to allow me to spend the night guzzling beer and drinking shots of tequila.

This is the testimony of a French cop who was involved in this week's riots in France. He describes what the ANTIFA rioters did.
From Europe to the US, from Paris to Berkeley. Tbis is ANTIFA in action. The group, whose acronym strands for Anti-Fascist, is fascist to the core. In the US, this is the successor to Occupy. The same people. The same anarchists of the left. They are for open borders even for the terrorists who would kill us.
When you combine ANTIFA with illegal immigration and Islamic terrorism, you realize that we really are in a civilizational war. Can we win it? Certainly, but only if we have the will. It doesn't mean we have to pass draconian laws that take away our civil liberties. It means we must enforce the laws we already have. It means that cops must go after rioters and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.
Further, ANTIFA in the US is a national operation with leaders coordinating across state lines. It is time for the Justice Department to open a RICO investigation into ANTIFA.

Anthony Weiner and Hillary's Emails
I don't know if anyone is still paying any attention to Hillary Clinton, who is yesterday's news, but just for the record: FBI Director James Comey was back up on Capitol Hill again this week, this time before the Senate Judiciary Committee. He was justifying his controversial announcements as to the possibility of criminal charges against Hillary during the campaign. He also confirmed in his testimony that their investigation had revealed that Huma Abedin had forwarded classified emails for then-Secretary of State Clinton to her husband, Anthony Weiner's laptop so he could print them out so they could be delivered to Her Nibs (Mrs Clinton). You know, in between his sexting and all that.
So-just for the record: That is a crime.

FGM as Seen Through the Eyes of a Muslim Woman/Reformer
Last night, Fox News host Tucker Carlson was interviewing an American woman who had voluntarily undergone female circumcision as an adult and was defending the practice, which she described as "just a nick" rather than mutilation. She also compared it to parents having their male child circumcised. Carlson, who is normally quite good at debating, failed to ask the woman one key question: What is the motive behind parents having their female child circumcised? The answer is that it has no health purpose but is performed for the purpose of limiting the female's ability to enjoy sex, something that male circumcision (which has a more legitimate purpose) does not do. That point would have destroyed the woman's argument.

It is sad that in their rush to find and embrace "moderate" Muslims, the Qudosis and Zuhdi Jassers don't have a wider voice. Liberals and most of the media usually ignore them. (I am surprised that the NYT has even published this op-ed.)

Should CBS Fire Colbert?
TV wise guy Stephen Colbert went on a tirade this week on his show against President Donald Trump over the way the President cut off an Oval Office interview with CBS news reporter John Dickerson. It was one sentence in particular that has led to demands from many quarters-including the gay lobby- that Colbert be fired. This is when he cracked that Trump's mouth was only good for a "c--k holster" for Putin.

Granted, Trump's treatment of Dickerson was unpresidential, but Trump is usually unpresidential. On the other hand, Colbert dropped even the pretense of any respect for the office of the president. He was wrong. So should CBS fire him?
I say no. Not that I am any fan of Colbert or any of the other talk show comics. I believe in freedom of speech, and I don't think Colbert has any animus toward gays in spite of his tasteless joke, which had no place on TV. I think an apology is in order, and I think Colbert needs some remedial training as to what type of language is FCC-approved on TV. But I wouldn't support his firing, nor would I support a boycott of companies that sponsor his show. If Colbert's audience enjoys his one-sided barbs at Trump, they are free to watch. If others find it offensive, they are free not to watch. Let the market decide. I would be gratified if Colbert's audience dried up, but I have seen too many examples of censorship from the left to support censorship from the right.
