The Ivory Coast-The Little Woman Speaks

Secretary of the World, Hillary Clinton is telling yet another foreign leader that "he must step down".


Immediately.


Yes, folks, this time it's the turn of Ivory Coast (Cote d'Ivoire) President For Life Laurent Gbagbo to feel the wrath of the Little Woman in the Pants Suit.

And what has Mr Gbagbo done to incur the wrath of Madame Secretary? Some small little affront-like refusing to acknowledge the results of an election he lost. And now, some 1,000 Ivoirians have been killed in the resultant fighting. You know what that means, don't you?

The Obama Doctrine. (Anytime, a people is in danger from its own government, we will act.)

I told you the Ivory Coast was next. So the next step is that we will join an international coalition under the leadership of France (The Leader of the Free World) and the African Union to enforce a no-fly zone, launch some missiles into Abidjan and see what happens.

But wait a minute!

Fighting Campus Anti-Semitism

My friend and colleague Kenneth Marcus, the former head of the Dept. of Education, Office of Civil Rights, has written another brilliant article on anti-Semitism on our university campuses, which appears on Minding the Campus. It focuses on the lawsuit brought by a Jewish student at UC Berkeley as well as an OCR investigation recently launched at UC Santa Cruz (America's Wackiest University) by a teacher, my friend and colleague, Tammi Rossman-Benjamin.

In my view, it is high time for people to call out the anti-Semites on our campuses. What we are seeing is an example of the international alliance between the pro-Palestinian/Islamists and the far-left, anti-America/Israel activists, which includes radical faculty members and anarchist, no-nothing students. The focal point for all this activity is on our campuses-largely because spineless administrators -and certain spineless Jewish organizations will not confront and stand up to the haters. To them, dialogue is the answer. Nonsense. They are not going to change the minds of those who hate them and want to destroy them.

Kudos to Ms Rossman-Benjamin.

Libyan Update-Operation Kluster----

I would guess that Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and Dwight D Eisenhower must be spinning in their graves. Can you just imagine this NATO operation going on in Libya? We won't set troops on the ground. We won't supply arms to the rebels; in fact, we'll bomb them if we think they are harming civilians because, after all, this is a humanitarian missison. In fact, we did bomb them this week when they were wasting their ammunition firing in the air in celebration, and we thought they were government troops. In addition, the Americans will stop aerial bombardment tonight, the Germans pulled back when they realized they weren't invading France, we don't know who we are supporting-they could be Al Qaeda types, and what else? Oh yeah, Ghaddafi must go-but that's not our mission.

Meanwhile, we have a commander in chief who doesn't know whether he's on foot or horseback trying to explain unsuccessfully to the American public why we are there at all.

Oh yeah. To protect the Libyan people. What next? Are we going to protect the people of the Ivory Coast next? Sudan? Meanwhile, who's protecting us?

Oh yeah. I forgot.

Hats Off to the Japanese People

I continue to be amazed by the graceful and dignified reaction and behavior of the Japanese people in the face of the horrific tragedy that has engulfed them. It may be true that their government has not responded efficiently, but the people remain stoic and do what they have to do. There has been no violence, no rioting, no looting and no demanding this or that.

Then there are the heroic workers who go into the Fukushima reactors knowing full well they are probably condemning themselves to an early death by trying to stop the radiation.

I have always admired the Japanese people (and Japanese-Americans, for that matter.) They continue to provide a lesson for the rest of us. May God be with them.

The Goldstone Statement and Norman Finkelstein

I knew that name Goldstone rang a bell when I got this news article by the Jerusalem Post.

That's right! Richard Goldstone was the guy cited by that "Great Independent Scholar with a PhD from Princeton" Norman Finkelstein. (Independent because no university will hire him because he is a crackpot who makes up his own "scholarship".)

Last May, Finkelstein spoke at UC-Irvine during Israel Apartheid Week and made a total boob out of himself as the audience took turns yawning and laughing derisively at his monotone. When I asked him to sign a letter from several dozen UCI Jewish professors asking for a halt to anti-Semitic hate speech at the Israel Apartheid weeks, Norm launched into a long monologue about Richard Goldstone, the supposedly Zionist Jewish judge from South Africa who led the inquiry into the Gaza fighting and produced the Goldstone Report blasting Israel. In short, boob Finkelstein refused to sign the document citing Goldstone for some unknown reason. Here is the video of that exchange.

The Olive Tree Initiative at UC-Irvine-The Zionist Organization of America Letters

In the wake of the previously reported disclosure that UC-Irvine students participating in the Olive Tree Initiative reportedly met with a top Hamas official in the West Bank in 2009, the Zionist Organization of America has written two letters expressing outrage. The first letter is to the Jewish Federation of Orange County. The second is to UCI Chancellor Michael Drake. What can I say? As one who has taught part-time at UCI for almost 13 years, I can tell you that the ZOA, the Orange County  Independent Task Force on Anti-Semitism, myself and others have been complaining about this crap for years. All we can do is speak out and inform the public as we stand up not only for Israel, but more importantly for America and against anti-Semitism. All we have ever encountered is resistance and denial. 

Now, however, the chickens are coming home to roost, not for anything that our side has done, rather because of what the other side has done. We knew that eventually, the truth would come out.

As the cop in Scarface said, "It's your tree. You're sitting in it."

Defending Israel at Penn State

Frontpage Magazine has posted a video of a recent incident at Penn State University, in which pro-Israel students put up a "Wall of Lies" display to counter the propaganda of the Muslim Student Association. (In California, the various Muslim Student Associations have a portable wall they show at their Israel Apartheid Week events representing the wall that Israel constructed to keep out suicide bombers. This is what happened when opposing viewpoints were displayed by pro-Israel students.

So much for "reason discourse". On university campuses, the anti-Israel forces rule the day when it comes to events and protests. It is not only students, but left-wing faculty who participate. Once in a while, an opposing voice shows up to challenge the propaganda. This is usually what happens.

Massacre in Afghanistan

Now that Pastor Terry Jones has gotten his wish and burned a Koran, he can watch the result in Afghanistan. The below Fox News story has a video clip.

I have two thoughts; First, I think it is about time we give up the ghost of nation-building in Afghanistan. It ain't gonna happen folks. To me, our mission there is no longer anything more than finding and killing Osama bin Laden (who is probably across the border in Pakistan.) Afghanistan is Afghanistan, and nobody can change it. I am no expert, but it seems to me that we can send targeted drones if we detect terrorist sites in Pakistan or Afghanistan. For any more Americans to die in the name of creating a civilized, democratic Afghanistan is lunacy. While we are at it, we can fly over those poppy fields and burn them as we leave.

Secondly, I hope Pastor Jones can rest easy knowing that his demonstration has now led directly to the slaughter of at least 12 people.  The lesson to be learned is don't burn the Koran-read it.
