He's Baaack (at Columbia) Mahmoud Khalil Hawks His Book

-Kena Betancur-AFP

Columbia University and its infamous alumnus, Mahmoud Khalil, are back in the news today because Khalil, the Syrian-born agitator who led the anti-Israel, anti-Jewish disturbances on campus in the wake of the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, will be speaking on campus tonight courtesy of the local campus Palestinian student advocacy group.

The Columbia Spectator, the campus newspaper, is running an article (without mentioning the event) on Khalil's new book, "No Land to Stand on", which talks about his time spent in ICE custody while the government was trying to deport him. The soapy article is awash in tears for the plight of Khalil and the Palestinian people and their "displacement from their ancestral homeland".

There are demands for Columbia to cancel the appearance. Rather than get into a free speech argument here, I think it is more important to spread the word that Columbia is hosting this event after promising to clean up its act after the Trump administration pulled back funding. Columbia has not learned its lesson.
