Remember Liz Magill? She Is Now the Dean of the Georgetown Law School

"During a congressional hearing on anti-Semitism on college campuses, Magill said whether calls for the genocide of Jews violated university conduct rules could be a “context-dependent decision.” The exchange drew bipartisan criticism from lawmakers and donors and contributed to her resignation shortly afterward."

Some people are shocked over the hiring of former University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill to be the new dean at the Georgetown School of Law. With my own observations of academia in action and following Georgetown's history of the past several years, I am not shocked, just disgusted.

You will recall the House Subcommittee hearings on education a couple of years back when Magill and other university presidents were testifying before Congress, and none of them, including Magill, were able to articulate that calls for the genocide of Jews constituted a violation of their university's code of conduct. It all depended on the context, they said. Amid the firestorm that followed, Magill resigned from UPenn in December 2023.

Here is how Georgetown's official website is reporting the hire. Only one line is dedicated to reporting her resignation from UPenn as a result of her testimony.

Let us not forget that this is the same university that hosts the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Christian-Muslim Understanding, a deceptively-named center of pro-Islamist propaganda. Its most famous official is Jonathan Brown, a Muslim convert who has a long string of controversial statements on his resume, including a "justification" for Muslim slavery. Brown is the son-in-law of deported terrorist supporter, former University of South Florida professor, Sami al-Arian. 

Let us also not forget that Georgetown has a campus in Qatar. 

So should we conclude that Georgetown is in the tank for the pro-Palestinian, pro-Islamist, anti-Jewish point of view?

I guess it is a "context-dependent decision."
