On Tuesday, the police arrested 15 people because they allegedly used TikTok to incite others to (commit) terror attacks. They are suspected of having spread propaganda for the Islamic State terror group. According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, they also glorified martyrdom.
Thirteen suspects have Syrian nationality. That is reported by the police in a press statement.
The TikTok account had been monitored by the police in the Hague since August. According to the police, "large-scale Dutch subtitled ISIS propaganda" was disseminated, in which there were calls to join the fight with ISIS. Martyrdom was also glorified. Some posts received more than 100,000 views.
The suspects, ages 16-53, were arrested by several police units in the country. They are suspected of incitement to (commit) a terrorist crime, dissemination of ISIS propaganda, and/or participation in a terrorist organization. Four of the suspects are minors.
