There's an old silent comedy film from the 1920s where the protagonist (I don't remember whether it's Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, Harry Langdon or someone else) falls from a highrise building in a big city, but through sheer luck is saved, if I recall, by falling through a series of shades (or other improbable "miracles" that cushion his fall). Landing softly on the sidewalk, he heaves a sigh of relief, straightens his tie, and starts to walk away when he is jumped by a full-grown lion.
Imagine walking down a busy street of a major city minding your own business, and suddenly, a lion jumps over the wall of the backyard where he is being kept by his owner and chases you down.
Welcome to Lahore, Pakistan.
It seems that keeping animals like lions as pets is a status symbol in that part of Pakistan. So as a woman was walking down the street with her small children, a lion jumped the wall of his owner's house and chased her down. The video shows one man chasing the lion away. (There were no major injuries.) The news reports also state that the owner of the beast stood on the street, rather amused by the whole spectacle. He is now reportedly amusing himself in jail.
The Daily Mail (UK) has the story and the video here.
