Hat tip Campus Reform
Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, is investigating American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), an organization co-founded by UC Berkeley professor Hatem Bazian, who also happens to be the co-founder of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). The latter organization has been at the forefront of US university campus disruptions for several years now in the name of the anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian cause. AMP provides funding and other support for SJP's disruptive activities on numerous campuses.
This is welcome news and long overdue. Campus Reform has the report, which I am cross-posting here.
I hope they subpoena Bazian to testify under oath. If he commits perjury, they should refer it to DOJ for prosecution.
It seems to me that when you have groups like AMP and SJP coordinating together across state lines around the country to disrupt university operations, take over buildings, commit vandalism, and deprive Jewish students of their rights to an education in a hostile-free environment, there are federal conspiracy laws being violated somewhere. It's not illegal to organize protests, but there is nothing legal about organizing the above-mentioned actions.
In addition, both organizations have been linked to the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) and Hamas. The MB is not currently designated by the US as a terrorist organization, but they should be. Hamas is so designated.
Clearly, DOJ has a role to play here.
