A 42-year-old man named Mohammed Almaru is under arrest and charged with beating his daughter, 17-year-old, Mia Maro, to death this past Sunday in Tinley Park, a suburb southwest of Chicago.

Saudi Arabian-based Arab News, which I often take with a grain of salt, suggests that this may, indeed, be an honor killing.

Sadly, other so-called "honor-killings" have occurred in the US, Canada, and Europe. It is something that has no place in a civilized society. I cannot account for how every single news source handles this story, but so far, I find it ironic that it is a Saudi news source which (without any editorial comment) speculates that it may be an "honor-killing".
