From Europe to Montana: Dealing With Afghan Refugees

This week in Montana, Zabihullah Mohmand, 19, from Afghanistan, was charged with rape. From the news reports, it is not entirely clear when this young man made his way to our shores, and he is claiming that the sex was consensual. At any rate, the suspect appears to be part of President Biden's resettlement program for Afghans. Montana Governor Greg Gianforte is asking the Biden administration to halt Afghan resettlement in his state.

Of course, it would have been nice had our government leaders read the reports coming out of Western Europe, where young, unaccompanied Afghan "refugees" and asylum-seekers have been wreaking havoc in places like Austria, Germany, and Sweden-just to name a few.

I have consistently stated that we owe it to those Afghans who fought and worked at our side to get them safely out of Afghanistan and the clutches of the Taliban. That said, I am opposed to massive Afghan immigration of people who are not vetted.  We are already seeing the catastrophe in Europe. Given the situation in Afghanistan, most European countries are not deporting convicted criminals back home.

It is not just that we and the Europeans have loaded people onto planes who have no business coming to the West, who didn't help us, who didn't fight on our side, but merely made it onto planes at Kabul Airport. Even before the collapse of Afghanistan, Europe was dealing with a  wave of crime and violence at the hands of unassimilable young men who hate the West and who think the local women are just whores to be taken at will. Many hold a primitive Islamic worldview that has no place in a democratic, egalitarian society. Need I even mention the threat of terror?

Yet, no matter what Montana officials say, the Biden administration will continue to bring thousands of unvetted Afghans to our states and cities. Many, perhaps even most will do well. But make no mistake: In the coming years, we will read about the FBI arresting some of these people (including their children as they grow older) for terror-related offenses, innocent people will die, and there will be rapes.

How do I know all this? Because it is already happening in Europe. What allegedly happened in Montana is just the start for our country.
