Ironically enough, the fiasco of the US withdrawal and evacuation from Afghanistan has cost someone their job-but not in the Biden administration. Instead, Sigrid Kaag, the foreign minister of the Netherlands, has fallen on her sword. She resigned on September 16 after a majority of Parliament members stated that she had mishandled the evacuation crisis. Also resigning over the Afghan evacuation issue was defense minister, Ank Bijleveldt.

And just today, the country is buzzing over the firing of the minister of economic affairs, Mona Keijzer, after she publically voiced criticism of the government's new Corona Pass regulation. It is reported that Prime Minister Mark Rutte removed Keijzer from the cabinet with the blessing of the Dutch king, Willem-Alexander.

Mona Keijzer

In a country beset with protests over the government's Covid measures, Keijzer is receiving a lot of support from segments of the public as well as politicians who oppose the stringent Covid regulations. Wybren van Haga is a parliamentarian member of the Belang van Nederland party (Interest of Netherlands). He produced a short video complimenting the courage of Ms. Keijzer and expressing the hope that more members of the cabinet will show similar courage and speak out against the Covid measures, specifically the so-called Corona Pass.
