Sweden: Car Fires in Eskilstuna

Hat tip Nyheter Idag and Vlad Tepes.

"There will be more cars set on fire"

-Aftonbladet

On the evening of May 16, about 20 fires were set in the Swedish town of Eskilstuna. Most of the fires involved cars and are believed to be the work of gang(s) in retaliation for the recent arrest of a major criminal.

If that wasn't outrageous enough, when a Swedish TV crew (TV3) was interviewing the owner of one of the burned-out cars, an elderly woman in a wheelchair, two thugs walked by, gave the finger to the TV crew, and promised more fires were on the way. This was captured on video and is in the below article from Nyheter Idag. Translation of the written article is by Fousesquawk. We are in the process of preparing English sub-titles for the video.

*Update: Here it is. Translation by Fousesquawk.

Wheelchair-bound woman's car burned-out in Eskilstuna

Eskilstuna- In the middle of an "Efterlyst" (Wanted) interview with a wheelchair-bound woman who got her car burned in Eskilstuna, two young men come and threaten new fires.

"That will happen to more cars soon," says one of them in the clip which has been posted by "Efterlyst's" Facebook site.

On Sunday evening, about 20 fires were started around Eskilstuna, and burning objects were thrown against the police station in the city.

Police suspect that it was a coordinated attack by criminals in retaliation for the arrest of a major criminal some weeks earlier.

The program, "Efterlyst", spoke with wheelchair-bound Leila, who had her handicapped-customized car destroyed in the fires.

"People think she got the car free because she is handicapped. No, she buys the car just like you and me, and she will now buy another with her pension," says Leila's daughter.

During the interview, two masked young men show up and act threateningly.

"F--- TV3, Man. That will happen to more cars soon," says one of them giving the finger to the camera before walking on.

"What have we done to them? We have done nothing to them. Why do we deserve this here?" Leila's daughter asks herself.

Fousesquawk comment: Since nobody has been identified publicly yet, the Swedish media cannot be more specific about the identity of the perps. Make no mistake: These are not indigenous Swedes. These are immigrant gangs from the Middle East and other places like Afghanistan. Everybody knows it, but all you get from the police, politicians, and media in Sweden is that they were "youths". Nyheter Idag is a conservative site; at least they were able to bring in the gang aspect of it.
