Hat tip Minding the Campus and National Association of Scholars
I am cross-posting an article sent to be by the National Association of Scholars and published by Minding the Campus. It is written by Wenyuan Wu, an educator and immigrant from China. Here she compares and contrasts how China and California (and much of the rest of the country) are handling the issue of society with different ethnic groups. Her views make a lot of sense. They come in the wake of the pending approval in California of a statewide program of Critical Ethnic Studies, a dangerous concept that encourages the division of ethnic groups into victimized tribes and stresses the idea that whites are inherently racist.
Boy, does she make sense. While it is true that China may have stressed building unity for not-so-altruistic reasons, it still works better than having divided peoples in your society. After World War II, Tito built a unified Yugoslavia in which serious divisions between such groups as Croats and Serbians were suppressed in the name of national unity. Once Tito left the scene, Yugoslavia dissolved and those groups started fighting again. True, Tito was no Jeffersonian Democrat, and his motives may not have been pure, but it sure saved a lot of lives during the existence of Yugoslavia. I should also stress that I am no expert on Yugoslavian history, but that much I do know.
In our case, however, there is absolutely nothing to be gained by further dividing what is already a divided country. There can be only one long-range goal in pursuing such policies, and that is the eventual destruction of the US. Don't think that the people in charge of implementing these programs, like Critical Race Theory, are stupid. They know exactly what they are doing.
