President Trump's Farewell Address to the Nation

I find it shameful that our major news outlets chose not to televise President Trump's farewell address. He deserves better treatment than that. So I am posting it.

Hi Melissa, I haven't forgotten you. I stopped teaching in 2016. I hope you are well and best wishes.

Anonymous,

Keep watching your MSM. You will be a well-educated, well-informed person.
(LOL)

I wasn't aware that I watched the MSM.

This coming from the guy who seemed to be unaware of the 50 plus court cases on Trump's supposed voter fraud that were thrown out. You also insisted that Biden never condemned violent protests even though a two second Google search confirmed that he did.

You're probably unaware that consumers of right-wing media have been shown to be the least informed - but you won't believe anything that right wing media doesn't report.

Oh, and the military didn't give Trump the traditional send-off, so the MSM is in good company.

But keep licking the traitor's boot, Fouse.

Anonymous,

I am in awe of your overly dramatic phraseology. You should become a presidential speech writer. Old Joe can use some help.

"Licking the traitor's boot". I like that.

The thing is, I don't even think that Trump is a traitor in the sense that he actively looked to harm our democracy. I just don't think that he's capable of caring about anything other than himself. In other words, that's his only loyalty. He wouldn't denounce QAnon because he knew that they were helping him. (And I feel safe in thinking that you'd agree that Q is a dangerous.) He has no respect for democracy, our institutions, etc. This is why I can't feel sorry for him when the media won't play his farewell speech (which is really full of lies.) He wouldn't concede and refused to show up to his successor's inauguration (first time in over 150 years, I believe, since that happened.) But your issue is that the media isn't following norms? Seems to me like everything is already out the window.

Did you hear about Trump's plan for the vaccine rollout? There wasn't one. Biden's administration has to start from square one.

I mean, you have to admit that's just insane. It would be one thing if it was an incompetent one, and I expect that there will be problems with Biden's plan. But to not have one at all?

Does Trump really give you the impression that he cares about anything or anyone who isn't himself or his immediate family?

Anonymous,

Trump is many things, but beyond himself and his family, I think he has demonstrated that he is a nationalist. As president, he put America first, which some would criticize. A nationalist cares about his country.

The question is, now that he is gone and Biden is president, what are you going to talk about the next four years? I watched Jimmy Kimmel today and he is still trashing Trump. It's for sure he won't be making jokes about Biden. In fact, Kimmel has to learn to make jokes all over again because he doesn't even joke about Trump-he just savages him.

BTW: I hope you noticed that while there was no riot in Washington yesterday, Antifa is back at it in Portland and Seattle. They are not going to stop just because Biden is president. So while the DOJ is going after Qanon, Boogaloo Bois, and Proud Boys-which is OK with me if they are breaking the law, they will also have to pay attention to Antifa and BLM.

I don't know how you can say that he cares about his country when all of the evidence points to the opposite. If he cared, our response to Covid wouldn't be the absolute mess that it is. Maybe on some level he cares about this country, but everything takes a back seat towards his own well being.

I'll have no problem complaining about Biden. He was my second-to-last choice among the Democrats (Bloomberg being my absolute last choice.) I just hope that we can criticize him for real things and not silliness like him supposedly being a socialist (puh-lease).

And if you think that late night comedians won't make jokes about Biden, I have to wonder if you ever watch them at all. They make fun of everybody. Trump just happened to supply them with a lot of low-hanging fruit (like when he looked directly at an eclipse).

Yeah, there was no riot in Washington - maybe because of the enhanced security after the capitol raid. I'm aware of what's going on in Portland and Seattle - not sure what they're hoping to accomplish there.

While I don't take issue with laying the blame on Antifa, since they're barely even organized, I do take issue with the description of BLM. I realize that the lady who started it was a Marxist but it's become a much bigger thing since then. The overwhelming majority of BLM protesters have been peaceful, only to be met with tear gas. There has been violence, but we know that much of it can be attributed to far-right agitators. (But certainly there are some true-believer BLMers who engage in that sort of a thing - I've had some words for them. I don't just pick on right-wingers, you know.)

And let's face it, there are some people who just want to watch the world burn. Some people see the chaos and use it as cover to loot, steal, and destroy stuff without caring about what the cause is.

I'd like to see the law be applied equally, evenly, and proportionately no matter if it's right-wing, left-wing, or pure anarchy. I don't think that's the case, as I doubt that a BLM protest would have gotten as far as the Trumper rioters did.

Anonymous,

I am curious as to who was your first choice among the Dems.

As for BLM, I am sure many well-intentioned people have signed on to BLM, but this is still an ally of Antifa. This is the same crowd that marched through cities like NY chanting, "Pigs in a blanket, fry'em like bacon".

As for the Covid situation as it stands right now. Is it the news media that told you the vaccine distribution is a mess? Watch how they change their tune now that Biden is president. Do you really think they will hold Biden accountable if it continues to be a "mess"? More likely, he will get nothing for praise for how he distributes the vaccine and saves us all from Covid. I have never heard one word of praise for Trump from the media for expediting the research, testing and approval process of the vaccine.

I'm not trying to convert you into a TRump fan, but try to look at it a little more even-handedly. His style sucked and he acted like an oaf, but he accmplished a lot.
