France: The Desecration of a Somber Site-Oradours-sur-Glane

France has been suffering the loss or damage to many of its most sacred landmarks in the past several months. First, it was Notre Dame in Paris. Next it was the fire in the cathedral at Nantes, a confirmed case of arson. Now it's the desecration of a welcome center at the martyred village of Oradour-sur-Glane.

You need to know the history of Oradour-sur-Glane to truly appreciate the outrage that occurred Saturday. In June 1944, a German SS division occupied the village and took the entire population as prisoners. The men were locked into barns, which were set on fire. Those trying to escape were machined gunned. The women and children were locked in the village church, which was also set on fire. Six hundred and forty two people died. The entire village was razed and left in ruins.

After the war, it was decided to leave the ruins in place as a memorial.

So yesterday, person(s) unknown entered the village and put graffiti on the entrance center. In place of "martyrs", which was x-ed out, the word, "liars" was substituted. The message they wanted to leave was that the massacre was some sort of hoax.

The below article from France TV is translated by Fousesquawk. We are hoping to sub-title a news video of the incident as well.

Graffiti denying the holocaust has been found at a memorial center in a village in central France, according to the mayor of Oradour-sur-Glane, Philippe Lacroix.

Oradour-sur-Glane: The martyred village desecrated

On June 10 1944, 642 men, women, and children were massacred at Oradour-sur-Glane. 76 years after the event, a symbol of Nazi barbarity, the martyred village was desecrated Saturday, 22 August, and an investigation has been opened.

A tarpaulin to cover the words of shame. This night, the facade of the memorial center of Oradour-sur-Glane has been desecrated. The word, "martyr" was replaced by the word, "liar", accompanied by the name of a militant  denier. " I don't understand. I hope that the persons who did this will be severely punished," stated a resident. "To hear that story (misrepresented) again is unbearable," castigated Philippe Lacroix, mayor DVD of the town.

"Nothing can make (us) forget the memory," of the martyrs

On June 10, 1944, the village in (Department) Haute-Vienne was assaulted by an SS division.  The Nazis locked the men in barns and machine-gunned them. The also imprisoned women and children is the church of Oradour prior to burning it. 642 persons perished in the massacre. This afternoon, the president of the Republic denounced the desecration, stating that, "Nothing can make us forget the memory of our 642 martyrs of Oradour-sur-Glane."

Fousesquawk comment:  We don't know who did this, and I won't even speculate at this point. I just hope that whoever did it is caught. This is a truly despicable act against a sacred memorial. There a lot of sick and evil people running around this world today. They are trying conquer us. We cannot let them.
