Big Explosion in Stockholm

Early Monday morning (1:09 am) a powerful explosion rocked an apartment building in Stockholm. Below is the police notice on their web site. (Translation by Fousesquawk.)

There are varying reports as to injuries. Svenska Dagbladet reports injuries are unknown. According to Pettersson's Blog, there are several injuries. No deaths reported as yet. Cause is also as yet undetermined.

Police receive calls on a loud detonation on Gyllenstiersgatan (Street) Östermalm (Stockholm).

A detonation has taken place in an apartment building There is property damage as well as to vehicles near the property.


Police, fire and medical services are in place. The fencing school has been opened for evaculations of the residence as well as for people in need of crisis support.
Police technicians and the national bomb (unit) are en route to the scene. A prelimanry investigation of a general harmful destruction has been initiated.

Explosions are becoming a normal event in Sweden thanks to immigrant gangs operating in the large cities.We will follow this story.

*Update: It seems there were no serious injuries, but police say it is one of the biggest explosions they have experienced. They also say there is no known connection to another bombing outside an Uppsala nightclub that evening. (No injuries reported.)
