Islamophobia and Intimidation

Hat tip Jihad Watch

It is necessary to tell the Western public in all ways needed that Islamophobia is a crime,” Mehmet Pacaci, OSCE’s senior representative to combat intolerance and discrimination against Muslims, told Anadolu Agency."

Under the leadership of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey has gone from being a moderate Muslim-majority country and NATO partner to being an Islamist, anti-Israel, anti-Jewish, anti-West danger. Thanks to Erdogan and his government agency of religious affairs, Western-European-based Turks are increasingly embracing Islamism and becoming more of a problem for their host countries.

The latest disturbing report concerns the statements of the newly-installed Turkish ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. The report was picked up by Jihad Watch from the Anadolu Agency, an English-language Turkish news site.

With statements like that of Mehmet Pacaci, one wonders how Turkey should be a member of this organization.

Speaking from an American point of view, Islamophobia (however it is defined) is a thought, not an action.  Actions against Muslims such as assault or vandalism against mosques are certainly crimes. Having thoughts is not-unless you live in a totalitarian state.

Unfortunately, Europe is drifting towards totalitarianism once again, mostly thanks to Islamic pressure. Western European leaders especially are deathly afraid of offending Muslims because they know the horrific violence that can lead to. Thus, they do the bidding of Islamist leaders like Erdogan who want to stamp out any criticism of Islam-no matter how many terror attacks occur, no matter how many people die, and no matter how many Jews  decide to emigrate from Europe.

But it is not just Turkey. The entire Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the 56-nation member bloc that makes up the largest voting bloc in the UN, has for years been pushing the UN to pass a resolution urging its member nations to pass laws against "defamation of religions". Since Islam regularly defames Jews and Christians, in practice, such a law really only would punish "Islamophobia".

No decent person would advocate persecuting Muslims simply for being Muslims. But as long as we have to deal with Islamic terror, as long as other religions are persecuted in Muslim lands, as long as we experience mosques in the West where hatred of Jews, Christians and the West is preached, as long as Muslim religious leaders advocate for a worldwide Islamic caliphate, the discussion about Islam will continue. If the West were to silence such discussion, we might as well have lost the Cold War. In fact, we might as well have lost World War II. It's bad enough that terrorists like ISIS try to intimidate the rest of the world to submit to Islam. We should not tolerate governments and Islamic organizations truing to intimidate us as well.
