"I have found the proof!"
British comedian George Galloway thought that he had made some kind of scientific, archeological, or historic discovery in June when he found an old newsreel of a 1939 soccer match in Sydney between Australia and a team from "Palestine". He put it on Twitter and readers educated him about the team-which was Jewish, Star of David and all.

Of course, "Palestine" was never a nation, rather a geographical term for the region of present-day Israel-not to mention the original Israel- that was then part of the Ottoman Empire and inhabited by Arabs and Jews.
In truth, it is not easy to point out the truth to Galloway. He doesn't shoot the messengers; he just calls them liars like he did to me in 2009 when I told him about how pro-Palestinian protesters in the US were calling for Jews to go back to the ovens. Just like this latest flap, I had the video evidence on my side.
One thing about George: He's always good for a laugh. Ever since Benny Hill died, George Galloway is the funniest man in Britain.
