On October 8, in the Italian province of Foggia, a Gambian migrant attempted to run down police officers rather than stop his car. A car chase ensued followed by a foot chase in an ex airport next to a migrant camp. When two officers attempted to make the arrest, they were surrounded and attacked by a mob of about 50 migrants. Reinforcements arrived and the officers were saved though they had to be hospitalized. The Gambian was taken into custody.
