There was a flareup this week at a Dutch mosque in the Hague between Pakistani Muslims and those descended from India/Surinamese Muslims, mostly Ahmadis. As the article from Gates of Vienna states, Ahmadis are not known for extremism. Nevertheless, intrasect disputes among Muslims are nothing new.

I don't know if this was a factor, but in Pakistan, home to most Ahmadi Muslims, they suffer great persecution from the Sunni majority. Even the Pakistani laws discriminate against them and do not recognize them as true Muslims.
