Hussam Ayloush with Muslim Brotherhood poster
Algemeiner, a great Jewish web site out of New York, has an interesting article on the Southern California director, Hussam Ayloush, a hot-tempered guy who continually sticks his foot in his mouth. Ayloush has a history of making incendiary remarks that have led to accusations of anti-semitism. Now, he is in hot water for calling on the US Government to investigate American Jews who join the Israeli Defense Forces. Algemeiner has the report here.
This is not the first time Ayloush has made this statement. On January 9, 2015, I attended a panel discussion on "The Crisis of ISIS" at the Orange County Islamic Center in Garden Grove, California. Ayloush was one of the panelists. Aside from ISIS, there was discussion on the program of "Countering Violent Extremism" (CVE), which was initiated during the Obama administration. CVE was an attempt to nip potential terrorists in the bud by working with mosques to identify those showing signs of radicalization. Among the national Muslim leadership, it had both supporters and detractors. Ayloush took the occasion of this panel to ask why there was no such program in the synagogues regarding young Jewish men going off to Israel to join the Israeli Defense Forces, "killing the people of Gaza". Fortunately, I videotaped the meeting, so Ayloush's words are preserved. You can access the video at my posting here. Go to video 126 (4th one down). The comments start at the 8:58 mark.
