Today, a lone gunmen went into the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas (near San Antonio) and opened fire. At this point it is reported that 20-27 people including small children have been killed with many others wounded. The gunman, not yet identified, is also dead. At this point, we don't know the motive. In addition to local police, the ATF and FBI have responded.

There are reports going around the blogosphere giving a name for the shooter, who reportedly killed his family first. This is unconfirmed. I will hold off on that. The gunman reportedly reloaded his weapon and was killed by police after a car chase.
Update: The above name has now been replaced on the internet by a second, which is unconfirmed. A press conference is coming up, so I'll await their official statement. I do not think this is a case of international terrorism.
Update: The second name is official: Devin Kelley.

CBS News in Los Angeles is reporting that Kelley had been dishonorably discharged from the Air Force. The Internet is abuzz with claims as to his political persuasion, but I will await confirmation.
