There was a lot of worry that Sunday's conference in Paris supposedly devoted to peace between Israel and the Palestinians would result in a call for Palestine to be recognized as a state, and that somehow before Obama left office, the UN Security Council would pass such a resolution that the Obama administration would abstain from. Thankfully, that didn't take place. As it was, this one-day farce resulted in some vague statement urging everybody to try harder for peace and gave John Kerry one last chance to visit Paris and practice his French on the tax-payers' dime.

And where does the French foreign minister get off saying that the US should not take such a unilateral action such as deciding to relocate our embassy to the capital of Israel? Whose permission to we need for that?
