The victim of Friday night's shooting at the University of Washington (through his attorney) has expressed empathy with the man who shot him. The victim is still recovering in a Seattle hospital.

As yet, the shooter has not been charged pending investigation. What is pretty clear from the video is that the victim charged the shooter and physically attacked him. What provoked that action is not clear. Also not clear is whether the shooter had sufficient reason to fear for his safety (aside from just getting roughed up-for example, if the victim had a knife). That will decide what the prosecutor does. I expect ultimately some charge will be filed.
