The FBI has filed federal charges against Esteban Santiago-Ruiz, but is still saying that they won't rule out terrorism. That usually means that they believe it's terrorism but don't want to say it officially until all the i's are dotted and all the t's are crossed. What has not been divulged is any evidence that Santiago actually converted to Islam. However, the photo of him in keffiyeh and giving the ISIS one-finger salute suggests that he was buying into the ISIS cause. It also appears that Santiago was having mental issues and that these two factors made up a deadly cocktail.
There is still much to await in terms of the FBI investigation. It also appears that our beloved media, CNN, for example, has tried to downplay any jihadist aspect to the story. Many are charging that CNN changed the tone of Santiago's skin color in order to make him appear more Caucasian. It is also charged that the now-famous photo of Santiago was cropped in order to eliminate the finger sign he was giving-a sign used by ISIS.
