God Save Us From Our (Christian-Jewish) Religious Leaders

Have you ever noticed those "Co-Exist" bumper stickers on cars that are written in the symbols of the Cross, Star of David, and Islamic Crescent? Nice aren't they?

No, they aren't.

That is because they call for a one-way commitment for Christians and Jews to be tolerant of other faiths. It is the Christians and Jews who are supposed to be tolerant of Islam, while nothing is said about Islamic intolerance toward Christians and Jews.  The ones who are doing the hating get a pass while their victims are called upon "to be tolerant". Indeed, virtually all over the Islamic world, from Pakistan to Iran to Syria to Iraq to Libya to Egypt, non-Muslim minorities are being persecuted. The only reasons Jews are (relatively) safe is because they are not there. They were driven out after the creation of the state of Israel.

Yet, our own religious leaders never stop calling for peaceful co-existence, nice in theory, but impossible as long as so many millions of Muslims are hell-bent on forcing the rest of us to submit or be killed.

Recently, there was a conference scheduled on peaceful co-existence in Iraq. Some Christian leaders wisely refused to take the bait while their brethren were being hunted down and slaughtered.

Here in the US, however, there is no shortage of Christian and Jewish leaders ready to team up with their Islamic "counterparts" to hold inter-faith meetings and conferences dedicated to the idea that we are all alike in our love of  the One God and that we must stop being so suspicious of Muslims. I have attended several of these. The theme goes something like this: The Muslim cleric gives an Islam 101 presentation of about ten minutes describing the similarities among the three faiths, tells of the glorious time of Andalusia, when Islam ruled over southern Spain and all faiths lived in harmony (false), and that Muslims and Islam pose no threat to Western society. That is followed by the other clerics apologizing for the wrongs committed by their faiths to Islam dating from the Crusades to the present  and promising to fight against Islamophobia and for the rights of Palestinians. One of the worst examples of this was in December of 2012 when I attended the annual convention of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), a Muslim Brotherhood front group, held at the All Saints Episcopalian Church in Pasadena. It was an example of dhimmitud on display as the head pastor, an activist chap named  Ed Bacon, literally apologized for Christian "intolerance" over the course of history.

Jewish religious leaders have been equally culpable in helping lull their flocks to sleep. Remember the Islamic Cultural Society of Boston,  the mosque in Roxbury that has spawned several terrorists including the Brothers Tsarnaev of Boston Marathon fame, who came out of the sister mosque in Cambridge? For years, Charles Jacobs of Americans for Peace and Tolerance, has warned his fellow Boston area Jews about this mosque, a  mosque that is heavily involved in interfaith activities. For his efforts the Jewish religious hierarchy of Boston has demonized Jacobs and made him an outsider within his own community. That's because they were too heavily invested in sending their children to the mosque for Islamic presentations and inter-faith exercises.

I could go on and on with examples. The point, however, is this: While I am certainly not calling for intolerance toward innocent American Muslims, many of whom do want to live in harmony and wish us no harm, we have to recognize the threat from those who do. I maintain that the true problem at the heart of all this madness lies in Islamic doctrine and that the Muslims I just referred to are, in fact, secular Muslims. We are under a clear threat, to our lives and to our liberty. Those Christian and Jewish leaders who are involved in these inter-faith activities, in many cases with Muslim leaders who are only pretending to be moderate, are doing us a terrible disservice. They are helping to propagate misinformation-disinformation actually- that serves only to lull us to sleep when we must be vigilant.

I am not saying we should stay away from these meetings. By all means go. But go prepared with hardball questions designed to break through the talking points. It is easy if you do your homework in advance. If you educate yourself, the lies of these smiling, soft-spoken dissemblers are revealed to be only skin deep. It is easy to scratch below the surface.

And shame on our own leaders who facilitate this deception.

What I object to is the use of the old peace symbol, which confuses the issue. There is nothing about the content of the sticker that makes it a one way street. Anyone who takes it into their little pointed head could treat it as one of course.

I see a bumper sticker now and then that reads "Annoy a liberal. Work hard, be happy." I thought it would look good with a hammer and sickle at one end. I've also thought of putting one of those "I don't believe the liberal media" stickers up with a picture of Lenin.

People who put those stickers on their car are by definition naive.

The bumper sticker on my old Ford truck says "I may be slow, but I'm ahead of you". Drives 'em nuts.

I like the sticker myself, in a Red sort of way. But you said the people who put those stickers on their cars are naive.
