They came as refugees.
Daniel Greenfield has written an excellent piece in Frontpage Magazine about the sheer madness that causes us to bring Muslim "refugees" to our shores.

Frankly, I am getting sick of throwing in the usual disclaimer that most Muslims are not trying to kill us. It doesn't matter. They are irrelevant. They are not doing much to stop the ones who are. The only thing that matters that among this flood of hundreds of thousands of Muslims seeking to leave their hell-holes to come to the West, there are some who will try to kill us.
And in some cases, they will succeed.
Even if they are truly peaceful, how many of those sympathetic babies and children they are carrying will grow up to be the university radicals of tomorrow-demonstrating against Israel, joining organizations like CAIR, and trashing their adopted country, the one that saved them?
I say bring in the Arab Christians and the European Jews. They are the true refugees. The average American doesn't want them any more than the average European wants them or even the Arabs. How many have the Saudis, the Emiratis, and the Qataris admitted? Practically none. They know they represent trouble.

You mentioned that the Saudis are not taking in any immigrants from Syria. But the Saudis did mention that they would help the situation for immigrants by building 200 mosques in the U.S. for those Islam believers In addition, the Saudis will send Wahabbist Clerics to conduct prayers, very similar to the Clerics they sent to the San Diego mosque which breed Anwar Alwaki.
