King Smelt
The farmers in the San Joaquin Valley, once the nation's breadbasket, are seeing their farms turn into a big dust bowl. For years, the farmers' pleas for more water have been ignored by the politicians in Sacramento, more interested in the environmentalists' concerns for the delta smelt. Now that we are faced with a drought in California, the solution proposed by our governor, "Run-Down" Jerry Brown, is to take shorter showers and not water our lawns.

This is but one example of the harm that the extreme environmentalist agenda has done. And we haven't seen anything yet. If the global warming (or is it climate change?) crowd carry the day, watch our economy die.

Does the delta smelt get big enough to eat?? The snail darter certainly doesn't. Both are pretty little things though, almost, but not quite, as pretty as a rainbow trout. Is either of them worth anything other than just being there??
Yeah, Gary, the drought has NOTHING to do with the snow pack in the Sierras missing about five feet that used to fall every winter and keep the rivers supplied as they melted. Move along folks, nothing to see here but some delta smelt.
It has to do with the water being directed toward the ocean when it could go to the farmers in the San Joaquin valley or other useful places. AS usual, the govt, playing to the tune of the enviros, screws everything up.
Gary... you are talking decades old politics, when the present day snow pack wouldn't be enough for the farmers if the river was dammed and back-flowed just south of Stockton... not if all of you in LA and Orange County are going to also have running water in your homes.
