UC Irvine Student Government Votes to Remove American Flag

Hat tip Ted

“.....the American flag has been flown in instances of colonialism and imperialism”, its display “does not express only selective aspects of its symbolism but the entire spectrum of its interpretation.”

This has to be the most cock-eyed and shameful action I have ever seen a student government take. The UC Irvine student government has voted to remove the American flag from the student government work room.

Todd Starnes at Fox News has another report with slightly more details as well as a suggestion for the students who voted in favor of this measure.

As a part-time teacher at UCI, I am embarrassed beyond words at this symbolic spitting on our flag. This is the result of decades of anti-American indoctrination by radical, left-wing professors who have been telling our youth that America is a racist, imperialistic country. Obviously, many believe it.

Frankly, however, I don't think that this represents the majority opinion of the UCI student body. UCI is not UC Berkeley, UCLA or UC Santa Cruz. It has been obvious from all the recent Israel boycott votes taken by various university student governments that there is a concerted effort for radical students to get a seat on student governments in order to influence events.

I think that UCI Chancellor Howard Gillman should tell the little rascals on the ASUCI that if they don't want an American flag in their work room, UCI can get along just fine without a student government.

The flag of which country and government is paying and underwriting their scholarships and guaranteeing their student loans? Which country will bail them out of trouble when they screw up during their Education Abroad Program (EAP)? This is just insane and shows again that the "educated" often lack common sense. I hope that the vets and ROTC folks on campus set these boneheads straight.
