Brian Williams in Retirement
The year is 2030. Brian Williams aka Lyin' Brian, now in retirement, sits in the trophy room of his Manhattan high-rise apartment surrounded by mementos of his public career. (The one on the upper left-hand corner is for surviving a helicopter attack in Iraq.)
Brian rarely watches the NBC Nightly News with Chris Hayes these days. Hayes is now in his 15th year doing the nightly news after Brian was "suspended". Brian thought that after 6 months, he would be back on the job. However, six months turned into six years and, well, you know how that went. Chris has started growing a few gray hairs and rumor has it he just turned 40, but he shows no signs of retiring. Still Brian hopes he will get the call when Hayes retires.
Not that Brian has been totally without work. An NBC affiliate in Ft Lauderdale gave him a temporary gig as a meteorologist for a few months last July. That ended after a week when Brian predicted a blizzard the next day then called in sick claiming he had been attacked by a polar bear on the way to the station.
So Brian sits and awaits that phone call that tells him his suspension is over....and he waits, and waits, and waits.
