On Sentencing Day Lunacy Again Prevails at UCSB

UC Skate Board

Today, UC Santa Barbara Professor Mireille Miller-Young was due to be sentenced Thursday for her assault on a young woman who was carrying an anti-abortion poster on the UCSB campus. The sentencing has been re-scheduled perhaps to today, but Fox News has obtained copies of letters submitted to the judge in Miller-Young's defense. At least one of them is completely idiotic

“If she appears smiling on camera, she is ‘wearing the mask,’ that is, she is hiding her actual state through a strategy of self-presentation that is a cultural legacy of slavery.”
That has to be the most preposterous statement I have ever heard and could only come from a university feminist studies professor. It this doesn't prove the uselessness of this curriculum, nothing ever will.   That is a pretty weak claim in attempting to avert personal responsibility in my view.
I don't think anybody seriously advocates sending this woman to jail for what she did. I sure don't, but I do think she should be fired. At any rate, to advance arguments like this is an insult to the court.  Furthermore, it just adds to what has been a pretty bad year for UC Santa Barbara.

Ditto.

I don't think a few days in jail would hurt either. It was a case of physical assault.

When it comes to suppression of free speech, you bet I am.

Eric Holder could have had her prosecuted for interfering with those girls' civil rights.
