In case you didn't know, we are in the month of Ramadan when Muslims frast during the daylight hours. It is a time when our government, desperate to make points with Muslims, makes all kinds of statements in honor of the event and hosts Iftar (fast-breaking) dinners in the evening. The White House does it, and so do many of our diplomatic missions.
Like our consulate in Adana, Turkey. They hosted an Iftar dinner in Diyarbakir (the center of the Turkish heroin trade, by the way). So do you think they made points and won friends? Think again. A mob smashed up the place because they are, of course, mad at Israel.

I have an idea: Why don't we ignore Ramadan instead of using the occasion to kiss ass? Look where it gets us.
