Concrete Tunnels and UN Schools

Hat tip JJ and Breitbart

In the Gaza fighting, here are a couple of developments that the international press, our mainstream media, and that CNN correspondent  that referred to the Israels as "scum" may have "overlooked".

Point number one:

As the Israelis proceed to dismantle those tunnels that Hamas uses to smuggle weapons and terrorists into Israel for the purpose of killing innocent civilians, we are learning that they are quite sophisticated. They are lighted, have many branches and are made out of concrete.

Remember when the international community made such a fuss over the fact that the Israeli blockade of Gaza included the importation of concrete, so important in construction and building up the infra-structure of Gaza? Well, the Israelis, being sensitive to international opinion relented, and voila!

Point number two:

Our friends at the UN have discovered some 20 rockets being stored at one of its schools that are part of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees in Gaza.

I was in Israel after Operation Cast Lead. The soldiers told me that they had pumped in colored smoke into any tunnels they found. Smoke came up near a day school inside Israel.

It seems destroying them is more difficult than just sealing the entrances with concrete. You have to find all the entrances and cave in the tunnel so it is is not so easily rebuilt.

I wonder what happened to those flamethrowers we used in WWII. They were pretty effective. I suppose with all the warning leaflets you have to throw in first and all the warning telephone calls, they wouldn't be as effective.
