In following the IRS scandal and hearings before the House Oversight Committee, it is clear that the White House has the IRS's back and vice versa. Attorney General Eric Holder has the IRS's back. House committee ranking member Elijah Cummings (D-MD) has the IRS's back. Lois Lerner can take the 5th amendment all day long. As she sat there (ever so briefly) before the committee, she knew that Cummings had her back. In February, when the head of True the Vote, a Texas-based conservative group, testified before the committee, the organization's attorney implied that there might be collusion between the IRS and the House Oversight Committee itself as to True the Vote. At that time, Cummings stated unequivocally that that was untrue.
It appears there was collusion-specifically involving this man sitting next to committee chairman Darrell Issa.
Elijah Cummings

Here is the letter that Issa sent to Cummings inquiring about his contacts with the IRS re: True the Vote (Hat tip National Review Online) :

So it appears not only that Cummings is a liar, but that his staff was requesting information on True the Vote from the IRS, and that Lerner was the one coordinating the exchange of information between the two.
Does Elijah Cummings have a conflict of interest as he sits on the House Oversight Committee trying to thwart the investigation at every turn?
Corruption?
Is anybody out there?

In all my years as an American citizen, I have never experienced such blatant corruption in the United States Government. Yes, there has been corruption in the past, but this high level of corruption is what will completely destroy our Republic and democracy.
Cummings needs to resign. But he will not and continue to shot his mouth off in defense of the corrupt IRS. Issa needs to kick him off the House panel.
