Max Blumenthal Blows it Again-KC Police Make an Arrest

Mohammed Whitaker
Mohammed Whitaker 27, KC shooting suspect

Boy, Israel-hater Max Blumenthal is starting to outdo Joe Biden when it comes to putting his foot in his mouth.  Here is what he tweeted on the occasion of the shootings last week at the Kansas City Jewish Center and assisted living facility.

In other words, why is everybody making a big deal about this when the Kansas City area has had a string of shooting attacks on the highway?

So now the KC police have made an arrest.

Here is the complaint document with the probable cause.

As the article in Jihad Watch points out, we don't have a motive yet, and in spite of the suspect's name (Mohammed Whitaker), it is not firmly established if he is a convert to Islam. This is a point that must be brought out as to his motive. If this was a case of jihad, the public has every right to know.

I'll bet Blumenthal is keeping his fingers crossed right now.

Our culture and news coverage give far too much play to people's motives. It was illegal, it put people in harm's way, and a suspect has been arrested for it. Nothing else is relevant.

Only if the motive is self-defense, or something eminently or arguably justifiable, should it even be considered. Only if there is some kind of organized conspiracy, and others responsible are escaping justice, should it even be relevant whether, in the perp's own mind, this was "an act of jihad."

Does the fact that Lance's middle name is "Christian" show that you have an anti-Christian bias in excluding him from the comments section?

Does the fact that the shooter at the Jewish center yelled "Heil Hitler" make his crime more deadly?

Siarlys,

Good question, but as usual I can address it. Conservative pundit Michael Medved argues that Miller?Cross should be prosecuted for murder not hate. Hate crimes are indeed problematical because they are not being applied evenly and motive is an element of proof and should not be the charge itself. I agree and have said so before.

The point I was trying to make is that Whitaker's motive is important-not for the courts, but for the public. If jihad is the motive then the public needs to be aware of the threats we face simply driving down the highway now. This is why it is wrong for the authorities to withhold that info even if they do so to prevent backlash against innocent Muslims which I understand.

There are many people who have been arrested for random highway shootings. Unless this is part of an organized campaign, what one crazy person claims as a motive vs. what another crazy person claims as a motive does not enlighten the public as to any net increase in danger to people driving down the highway.
