Hat tip The College Fix, College Insurrection and the Daily Nexus
The College Fix is featuring an interview of Ithaca College professor Paula Ioanide, who maintains that prisons are racist, industrial plantations for people who are not white-or something like that.

“There’s lots of evidence of Ronald Reagan created the war on drugs campaign because he truly believed black and Latino people were essentially criminals,” Dr. Ioanide said. “Whether he intended it or not –although research says he did intend it – he invested billions of dollars for funding militarism, increased policing, and increased surveillance.”
Such as?
I urge the reader to also read the report of Ioanide's appearance at UC Santa Barbara, which is linked. I have submitted a comment to the UCSB campus paper article.

"As part of UCSB’s MultiCultural Center lecture series “Race Matters,” visiting Ithaca College professor Paula Ioanide spoke yesterday about the interplay of racism, education and the prison system in America at her talk “Cages Are The New Plantations.”
Where to begin? First of all, as a DEA agent, I can testify that we arrested people of all colors including lots of whites. We didn't open up investigations on people based on what color they were. Her comments as to Reagan and the War on Drugs is pure nonsense.
If this lady thinks it is too expensive to maintain our prisons, let's see how expensive it is if we just let everybody out as she apparently would like.
I also note that this lady teaches at Ithaca College's Center for the Study of Culture, Race and Ethnicity. According to Legal Insurrection, she teaches courses such as, 'The politics of whiteness".
This is what our kids are learning in college Folks. No wonder they can't get jobs when they graduate. There isn't much demand out there in the work place for someone who can show up to work and expound on how racist the US is.
