Chinese are Blaming Uighurs for Terror Attack in SW China

Last Sunday, a group of knife-wielding men attacked people randomly at a train station in Kunming, Southwestern China killing approximately 27 people. Five of the attackers were shot dead by police. The Chinese government is attributing the attack to the Muslim Uighur minority from China's western province of Xinjiang.

Terrorist handiwork (Ibiza Online)

One important point to note in this attack. The two powers of Russia and China are not immune from Islamic terrorism They cannot just sit back at smile as the West is victimized by this scourge. The war on terror is their war as well. Hopefully, we can all work together to combat it.

How naive you are. The Chinese government says... and whatever they say is true?!?

Naturally the Chinese government blames it on Uighurs... it suits their propaganda mill to do so. (It MAY also be true). Further, there has been sentiment among the Uighur population for independence or autonomy from or within China, long before the rise of the current wave of jihadis. China would SAY anything moving was "Muslim fundamentalists," whether true or not.

I guess its like the gays... if the word "Muslim" is involved, suddenly conservatives have a whole new set of friends.

Siarlys,

Maybe they were Taiwanese.

Maybe they were any number of ethnic groups in China. Maybe they were supporters of Bo Xilai. Maybe they were Uighurs who were not particularly devout but were fervent nationalists. Maybe they were Tibetans, but the Central Committee doesn't want to admit Tibetans could or would pull off something like this. Maybe they were from an organized crime syndicate that nobody in Beijing wants to admit exists. (Organized crime and a free market tend to go together). Maybe they were Islamic fundamentalists. But we sure can't jump to conclusions on the say-so of the government of the People's Plutocracy.
