Ray Nagin, the flamboyant ex-mayor of New Orleans, was convicted today of charges he took bribes while in office. The period charged included while he presided over the Hurricane Katrina fiasco.

Why am I not surprised?? I do believe that of all the places I have lived/worked (8 states, 9 cities),Louisiana in general and New Orleans in particular are the most politically corrupt of all. I believe they may eclipse Chicago and Illinois, although my knowledge of that is not first-hand.
