It May Be a War on Christmas in the US, But in the Middle East, It's a War on Christians

Much as I decry the efforts of some to make Christmas fade away from our culture, there are much more serious things going on in the Middle East-and other parts of the Islamic world. The Christian minorities are in mortal danger. Iraq is but one example.

Interesting that Egypt and Syria were not listed in the top countries where Christians suffer the most. In Egypt, the Copts have long been subject to persecution. It reached its peak under Mohammed Morsi and the brief reign of the Muslim Brotherhood and continues since the military coup largely because Morsi's supporters have scapegoated the Copts for his fall. Over 80 churches have been burned in the past year alone. In Syria, Christians are fleeing for their lives. One often overlooked aspect of the on-going war is that rebel forces have been going after the Christians as well as Assad's forces.

Frankly, I am up to here with this part of the world. In my view, the West should join together, offer refuge to the Christians and other religious minorities, stand with Israel, then let these countries fight each other all they want. If we weren't so dependent on Middle East oil, it would be a lot easier. There's a solution to that too.

Give the left a few years and the War on Christmas here today will become a War on Christians very fast.
