Hat tip Investigative Project on Terrorism
Hussam Ayloush (in dark suit) with Muslim Brotherhood spiritual mentor Yusuf al Qaradawi
It seems CAIR's Southern California director Hussam Ayloush has a short fuse. That was evidenced Saturday night at the annual CAIR convention at the Anaheim Hilton when a photographer interviewed him and asked him the magic question of whether he or CAIR would condemn Hamas as a terrorist organization (They won't.) The interview started casually enough when the topic was about the FBI cutting off relations with CAIR and allowed Ayloush to get in a couple of sideways jabs at the FBI. Then things went south when the subject of Hamas came up. Watch and enjoy.

Of course, Ayloush retreats to the same old refrain when you bring up uncomfortable questions like Hamas. It's all racism and Islamophobia as he storms off. This guy strikes me as a bully, but I am hardly the first to make that observation.
In respect to Ayloush's comment that CAIR as a US civil rights organization doesn't weigh in on overseas issues: If CAIR does not weigh in on Middle East events, why are they co-sponsoring a pro-Palestinian event in Irvine on December 7? The co-sponsors are Jewish Voice for Peace, MAS, MPAC, and the Muslim Student Association. Speakers are an Electric Intifada co-founder, UC Berkeley professor Hatem Bazian, UCLA professor Gabriel Piterberg and UCI professor Sohail Daulatzai-professional Israel-bashers all.
In addition, on April 10, 2004, Ayloush spoke at a protest in front of the Israeli consulate in LA while UCLA MSA members reportedly shouted, "Death to Israel".
Ayloush might want to rethink that remark.
