I am cross-posting an article by Barry Rubin in PJ Media which illustrates the financial influence the Middle East has in our university Middle East Studies departments. In this case, he is talking about Georgetown.

That's what it's all about. Anti-Israel, anti-West, Arab states as victims of Western imperialism. That's what students will learn if they take Middle East Studies courses in American universities.
This money flow from the Middle East to our universities is corrupting our education. It has to stop. One way to stop it is to become energy self-sufficient, so as not to have to keep sending our petro-dollars to the Middle East. This is how it comes back.
