Central market in Nuremberg. Formerly Adolf-Hitler-Platz Today
Yesterday, I took the train down to Nuremberg. The city was bustling because Borussia Dortmund was in town to play Nuremberg (in soccer) and thousands of Dortmunders were in town in their yellow and black jerseys expecting an easy win. Alas, it was a 1-1 tie, and they went home disappointed.
For me, I took the tour of the Palace of Justice, site of the war crimes trials and sat in the same courtroom. The small building where the executions were carried out was torn down back in the 1980s.

I also stopped in to visit Tony Gentile, our Italian buddy who runs Osteria da Tony in nearby Stein. Great Italian restaurant.

Changing hotels today and return home Wednesday.

It strikes me that the allies tried over 20 of the leading war criminals of the Nazis and they would up the whole thing in less than 1 year! The convicted were executed of jailed shortly thereafter.
Now we have guys who have admitted complicity in the 9/11 attacks on the US and it has take some 19 years and they are still not on trial.
This was an act of war not a crime and should be treated as such.
Correction: It should be 12 years and not 19.
