L'Shana Tova
I would like to wish my Jewish readers New Year's greetings. Readers of this blog know that I am a strong supporter of the Israeli state, and I believe that her enemies are our enemies.
Next week, I will be spending two weeks in Germany on vacation. I will be in Munich, Passau and Erlangen. While in Erlangen, I will be meeting with members of the Jewish community there, which consists mainly of elderly Russian emigres. I will also be attending sukkah dinner with them.
Shana Tova.

Here's wishing you the traditional, Have a Happy, Healthy and Sweet New Year. (I usually slip in Prosperous as well but I'm pretty much the only one who does it.
Hope you have a good trip without any untoward incidents. Ask the Jewish community there how long the Sukkah Holiday has been performed and what does it commemorates. Hope they are also able to give you a sense of what it symbolizes.
I'm a big one for sharing holidays. Thanksgiving is my favorite one. None, as far as I know, ever celebrates a military victory in the Judeo-Christian tradition. Like the Thanksgiving example, it sets aside a time to express gratitude. All the other holidays have some universal theme that, let's face it, if we didn't have them and remember them each year we'd be a lot worse off.

Hope this doesn't mean you won't be taking emails these next few weeks.
Thanks Miggie,
I'll be checking my emails and will take an ipad with me to keep up with the blog . Will keep you all posted on the trip.
